question

Does this have a threaded hole in the end?
Asked by: John
Yes, it actually has several. A single 1/4x20 (I think) and two 1/8 . I don't have a screw guage so I can say exactly what the dimensions are but something standard. There are several other places on the rail with threaded holes making it pretty flexible. A great multi-purpose rail. I use it with my Sony A7R and a6000 combined with telephoto lenses to make stable setup on tripod, reduce shutter shake, etc

question

Thank you for your answers. But my question is: does it have a threaded hole IN the end; not on the long flat surface at the end?
Asked by: John
One end has three holes on the very end of the rail: a center hole smaller than 1/4 and one hole on either side of the center hole smaller in diameter than the center hole. All of the holes are threaded.

question

Will this easily hold a medium format camera with a bigger lens (80-160 zoom)? How much weight can it handle, given that the weight has a little bit of leverage, being back from the center of gravity?
Asked by: Brian
While I don't have a medium format camera on it, it is a very substantial piece. I was surprised how thick and well made it is. I use it for a pano setup and it's attached to a RRS BH-55 which I believe is the more important part of whether the camera would wiggle. I don't see how this rail wouldn't be able to handle anything you put on it. I went with this to save a few dollars over other brands and I am completely satisfied.
