Gigabyte GTX 960 G1 overview

  • 1Description

With a factory overclocked GPU the Gigabyte GTX 960 G1 Gaming Overclocked Graphics Card offers an improved gameplay and graphics rendering experience. The GPU is overclocked to 1241 MHz and features 1024 CUDA cores linked to 2GB of GDDR5 vRAM with a 128-bit interface. Outputs on this card include DVI-I Dual-Link and DVI-D Dual-Link outputs as well as an HDMI output, and three DisplayPort outputs.

Not just for driving displays, this card features NVIDIA's Maxwell architecture. Graphics intensive programs can utilize the Maxwell architecture's parallel configuration of the 1024 CUDA cores to speed up render times and other tasks that benefit from parallel processing. The arrangement of the cores also allows the card to run efficiently and quietly, even under a full processing load.

To keep this card cool, Gigabyte integrated their WINDFORCE 3X cooling system. This cooler uses three large fans to quietly whisk away hot air from the GPU. This type of cooler is most useful in medium to large towers where airflow inside the case is not a concern. The addition of the WINDFORCE 3X cooling system allows Gigabyte to overclock the GTX 960 further, achieving a maximum boosted clock speed of 1307 MHz.

NVIDIA Gaming Performance Technology
  • Dynamic Super Resolution: Renders games at a higher resolution than your monitor and scales them down to the native resolution of your display for better detail rendering.
  • Multi-Frame Anti-Aliasing (MFAA): Delivers a 30% performance boost while maintaining smooth, high-quality edges by alternating sample calculations across each frame and each pixel.
  • Adaptive Vertical Sync: Controls vertical sync based on your current frame rates for a smoother gaming experience.
NVIDIA GPU Boost 2.0
Maximizes clock speeds based on workload. Also allows control over temperature, fan speed, extra over-voltage headroom, and optimizations for water-cooling solutions.
NVIDIA Surround
With a single card you can expand your PC games across three displays in stereoscopic 3D for an "inside the game" experience. Add in a fourth accessory display to get access to your email, web, and other applications.
SLI Ready
NVIDIA SLI technology implements AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering) this uses multiple graphics cards to split the computing load. This improves scaling for anti-aliasing, as well as frame rates.
NVIDIA CUDA Technology
Take advantage of the GPU's processor cores to accelerate demanding tasks such as video transcoding, physics simulation, and ray tracing. Utilizing GPU processors for these tasks results in performance improvements over traditional CPUs. The GTX 960 supports DirectX 12, OpenCL, and OpenGL 4.4 allowing compatible software to benefit from GPU acceleration, taking much of the processing workload off of the CPU.
PCI Express 3.0
This card is designed for the PCI Express 3.0 bus architecture, offering high data transfer speeds for games and 3D applications. It also maintains backwards compatibility with existing PCI Express motherboards.
