PolarPro P3001 overview

  • 1Description

Improve the quality of your aerial GoPro footage with the Frame2.0-FPV Quadcopter Filter 3-Pack from Polar Pro. The pack includes a polarizer filer, 2-stop neutral density filter, and 3-stop neutral density filter compatible with a naked GoPro HERO3, HERO3+, or HERO4 camera. Offering varying degrees of light reduction, the filters are useful for slowing down the GoPro's shutter speed, resulting in smoother looking motion and helping to reduce to appearance of rolling shutter. The filters all feature glass lenses for optimal image quality and scratch resistance, a low profile design, and are lightweight at only 0.24 ounces for use with most motorized gimbal systems.

Polarizer Filter
The polarizer filter helps to reduce glare and improve color saturation. When filming from a quadcopter, a large amount of light is reflected back up towards the camera. The polarizer reduces the amount of glare bouncing off the ground. It can also be used to slow down the cameras shutter speed by reducing light by 1.6 stops.
2-Stop Neutral Density
The 2-stop ND filter reduces light hitting the sensor by two stops, which slows down the GoPro's shutter speed. This creates a more natural looking motion blur that smooths out quadcopter footage and helps reduce the appearance of "jello" effects from the camera's rolling shutter. The 2-Stop ND filter is also used for reducing lens flare while shooting into the sun and for toning down highlights while filming outdoors. The 2-Stop ND filter is particularly useful when it is partly cloudy, or during the early morning, or evening hours. It can also be used to slow down the shutter speed while shooting in Night Mode on the HERO4 for more balance exposures.
3-Stop Neutral Density
The 3-Stop ND filter is designed for filming in very bright conditions. This ND filter reduces light hitting the sensor by three stops for creating motion blur and smoothing out smooth out high vibration quadcopter footage. The 3-stop ND filter is ideal when filming during the middle of a sunny day, or to drop the shutter speed to create a high speed motion blur effect.

    PolarPro P3001 reviews

    Frame 2.0-FPV Quadcopter Filter 3-Pack for GoPro HERO3 / HERO3+/ HERO4 is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have! This set of filters is an essential addition to any cinematographer using GoPro cameras above water. Color vibrancy is enhanced greatly by the polarizer and if you happen to be a Drone pilot or aviation shooter the ND filters will reduce the weird propeller artifacts from the rolling shutter system by forcing the GoPro camera to use a slower shutter speed. They fit directly onto the camera lens, so using the normal GoPro camera housing in not an option. It no long fits in the case while on the camera. They do provide your lens with a fare degree of protection and are much cheaper to replace then the camera lens. All-in-all I love these filers and never fly the drones without them after getting my first set.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor quality glass The glass is of poor quality and the edges have imperfections that show up on video. The filters were dirty and had oily smudges when I took them out of the package. This is a bad sign for quality assurance. The glass was not even perfectly round and looks like the edges were ground by hand using janky equipment. The glass is glued to the plastic lens adapter. That said, they do fit well over the stock GoPro lens... I will not be buying these again and I don't recommend them to anyone. There are better alternatives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work as advertised!! I had jello problems from the rolling shutter on the Hero3 Black+ on sunny days, I read reviews on these saying they are cheap, scratch easy and don't work. I will say that's not the case. I put the neutral density 2-stop on and jello was instantly gone. They are not cheap, they are made of glass front and fit snug as a bug in a rug. I highly recommend using one if you have jello caused from rolling shutter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad quality filters. I've owned the Polar Pro filters, and they degrade the image from my GoPro due to bad coating and inferior glass. They are a cheap knock-off if the Snake River Prototyping BlurFix Air filters also sold at B&H. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1083781-REG/snake_river_prototyping_bfair3pk_blurfix_air_filter_3_pack.htmlThe coating is so thick it forces the shutter to slow, making your video smear and lose detail. IMO don't waste your money on the Polar Pro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with quadcopter mount I've only used the 2 stop filter so far. Using it on a Hero 4 Silver in an Walkera 2D gimbal in a Phantom FC40. Pros: The filter fits well enough that it doesn't fall off when using my quad copter with a 2 axis gimbal. Does not interfere with the field of view. Cons: Wish the set had a case to hold the filters while not in use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quadcopter ready, inexpensive, and good enough I use these filters on my GoPro 3 Black on a 3DR Solo quadcopter. The 2 ND and 3 ND help with the infamous jello-effect, although the 3 ND color shifts quite a bit. Correctable in Premiere Pro though. The kit comes with 3 cloth bags for storage and lens cleaning. I've flown multiple flights and the lenses stay on the GoPro with no issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect solution I was getting the dreaded jello effct in some of my aerial footge,so I purchased these slip on ND filters from Polar Pro. They worked with the system I was using (Phantom2 with H4-3D Gimbal and GoPro Hero4 Black). Very happy with the results!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great filters This set of filters are perfect. The fit snug on my hero4 so I don't have to worry about them falling off. The only thing I wish was that they were marked on what they are on the side. Just a minor detail. But definitely a good buy.
