Designed for macro photography, the Dual Arm LED Light from Savage provides a daylight-balanced 5700K source to illuminate fine details at close range. It mounts on your camera's shoe mount and features two LED lights on adjustable ball-and-socket arms for flexible positioning. Each light can be turned on/off independently of the other, letting you use one or both lights at a time. Additionally, there are six steps of light output available, letting you adjust brightness to suit your needs. Light settings are adjusted using buttons on the rear panel of the unit. A built-in LCD screen is also provided for displaying your selected settings. The light requires four AA batteries, which will last for approximately three hours with both LEDs on at full power.

Dual Arm LED Light is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice color temp I was immediately attracted to this design when I saw it for the first time. A lot of my macro work involves a reversed 50mm lens which does not allow me to attach any sort of ring light to the front (or back rather) of that lens. This design solved that problem. Additionally, I like to work with directional lighting in my macro work so I was also attracted to being able to adjust the lights into many different angles either individually or together. So for those reasons I went ahead and made the purchase. I've had the light for 4 days now and have used it for roughly 5 hours which is definitely enough to get it figured out. I shoot macro almost entirely using continuous light rather than flash so that's primarily how I've worked with it so far. But to that point, the flash mode does seem to work as advertised but I haven't tested sync speeds yet. The design may be a bit unwieldy for handheld macro in the field but that's something I decided I could live with. The good news: 1) I really like the color temp on this light. I created a custom white balance profile for the light and so far the results are very consistent. I imagine this could vary a bit depending on battery power but that's up to the user to manage. 2) All the functions are pretty straight forward - you'll have it figured out in about 5 minutes. 3) If you like working with directional lighting, you'll be happy with the micro shadows and contrast you can create by adjusting the angle of each light. 4) The light seems to have a good range of illumination, at least for my purposes. 5) The quality seems on par with other camera-mounted macro lighting. The not-so-good news: 1) The product came with no documentation whatsoever and Savage offers none on their website. Although its a rather simple product, I had to go out of my way to contact Savage to verify a couple functions (or lack thereof). There is a big 'SET' button on the front of the housing. I couldn't figure it out so I had to contact Savage to learn the button actually has no function - that this light housing is also used on another product that does use the SET button, and the housing was 'recycled' for use on this particular light. 2) When used in continuous light mode, I am unable to use only one light (as it does with flash mode). Of course I can turn one light away from the subject but seems to be an unnecessary drain on batteries. 3) I find the light to be very difficult to detach from my cameras' hot shoe (D800 and D7000). There is a detent pin on the light's mounting surface that (I suppose) is designed to help secure the light in place although the light mount includes a rotating lock ring like found on speedlights and the like. It seems the detent pin works a little too well considering I have to pull WAY to hard on the light to separate it from the hotshoe. Overall I like the product and assuming it lives for a few years (hopefully many years), I'm sure it will meet my needs. I've included a few images shot outdoors. I haven't used the light yet in the studio but I'm confident I can get good results in that kind of controlled environment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Clunky and Clumsy I struggled with what rating to give this product, but for my particular purposes, it doesn't serve much use. Firstly, the package didn't come with any instructions on how to operate the light. It was simple to learn, though. Secondly, I wanted to use it handheld, but found it to be difficult to position the lights properly while looking through the finder. Also the arms are not sturdy enough, so every movement sent the lights bouncing around a bit. The color of the light was nice, and I suppose that it could be useful on a tripod, but that isn't my primary way of shooting. Really disappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works well but can be clumsy to use I tried this with my Pentax K3 as I often need adjustable lighting for insects and other small animals. While it certainly works I find the arms very clumsy and adjusting them while the device is on camera is frustratingly awkward. I wouldn't take them on location because of the length of the arms and they are not easy to bend into a compact shape for travelling with. I found I couldn't set the power of the light independently the power adjustment sets both lights at the same power. One is left to bending the arms to different distances from the object - this is awkward as mentioned earlier. However it does have a wide range of useful power settings and should suit most applications. Mounting and dismounting the device on the camera's hot shoe is not a smooth operation. The power is supplied by 4 x AA cells and despite a number of use times, the batteries still have plenty of power. The battery door is well designed and opens and closes readily. The light colour is on the cool side and I found myself adjusting the colour balance later when processing images. This is not a major issue. Overall build quality is reassuringly solid and appropriate and it should last well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Negative update review I gave a reasonably positive review of the Savage item earlier, but since then the flash setting has failed. The lights still function but nothing happens when the camera is fired so I have reduced my rating to 2 stars.
