Savage LED1000 overview

  • 1Description

This LED1000 Light Head from Savage is ideal for in-home and on-location video shoots, interviews, photo sessions and more. The daylight-balanced, cool-running LED light produces the equivalent of 1000W of incandescent light (13,000 lumens) when used with the included reflector, while consuming only 100W of power. The LED1000's LED source has a long life expectancy of 50,000 hours, making it virtually maintenance-free.

  • The stepless power adjustment (0-99) with digital readout ensures output consistency from one job to the next
  • Front mount allows the user to attach most light modifiers through the use of a Bowens speed ring adapter
  • LED technology allows the user to vary power from the lowest to the highest light output with only minimal fluctuations in Kelvin temperature: (+/- 200K)
  • High-intensity LED chip provides up to 50,000 hours of light, eliminating costly bulb replacement

    Savage LED1000 reviews

LED1000 Light Head is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't bother The only reason it gets even one star is because the one that came in working order was very bright. Of the two I ordered, one came with the lamp assembly falling out, hanging by two very thin wires. The one that worked only had like four light levels, no matter how carefully you turned the dial, it got very hot and the fan is probably not powerful enough to keep it from burning out fairly quickly. Sent them back pronto!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for photography, limited for video I was very excited to try these lights because they checked a lot of boxes: daylight balanced, cool running, affordable, bright, with an S-type mount for use with lots of modifiers. In most respects, they succeeded on all fronts. However, the light's cooling fan is simply too loud for professional video work. For photographers who want to get into continuous lighting, this is a great option, especially at this price point. There are even videographers who could probably overlook the fan noise as it is not THAT loud. However, for me the fan noise is what forced me to return these lights. One other important note: I ordered Interfit standard 7 reflectors for use with these lights. They do not fit. The Interfit bayonet points are too large for the openings on the S-mount. However, a Phottix octabox fit perfectly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not hold up, weird ring of light around lightsource... Lamp fell out of unit. Poorly built. The actual light spoted on a white wall has a tiny green ring around spot of light. Really awful light quality. Had the potential to be something cool. But get what you pay for. Not worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I wouldn't bother with these I ordered two of these. The 1st one I opened and the Lamp Assembly was hanging from the unit by two very thin wires. I couldn't see any way to screw it in or otherwise reattach it. The 2nd unit was intact, so I gave it a try. Despite the description Stepless power adjustment (0-99) with digital readout ensures output consistency from one job to the next, no matter how slowly I turned the dial, I only got 4 levels of light. The readout did change to indicate levels at 12, 24, 36, 48 and then several more up to 99 but from 48 to 99 it was all the same amount of light. The only reason I am giving 2 stars it that it was really bright when turned on full. However I am wondering if how the very thin wires will hold up under the heat that this thing must generate (it has a huge heat sink).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good first impression... Initial impressions are very good - controllable over a wide range and very bright at 100%. Wide, even light distribution. Lightweight and easy to mount. It is a little on the big side, but for the price and having a cool-running 1000W equivalent, worth it. Light is a little diffuse for some of my work but hoping they will add a Fresnel, barndoor, or reflector accessory. Expecting good durability, but will comment later pro/con. I do industrial and scientific video and photography.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes I would these again. For the price these are really great LED lights. Good light quality, reads much cleaner than our older LED panels, though I think they lean just a touch green/blue. But the punch for the price, and what looks to be pretty great CRI makes them worth the price tag. WE bought them specifically for travel shoots.
