The Zoom SSH-6 Stereo Shotgun Microphone Capsule is designed to work with the company's H5 and H6 audio recorders as well as the hybrid Q8 audio and video recorder and their U-44. The capsule includes a super-directional microphone for picking up sound on center that can be combined with a bidirectional side microphone for picking up sound from the left or right to record a fully mono-compatible stereo image for film, video, and television projects. For example, you can record dialogue with the center microphone and then mix the desired amount of environmental sound captured by the side microphone with the Zoom recorder. A hairy windscreen is included for helping reduce wind noise.

Zoom SSH-6 Reviews
Best used outdoors...
The new Zoom Essential series of 32-bit float recorders won't accept this mic and the others in this series. I bought this mic and an H6 Black Edition as a lateral upgrade as I don't need 32-bit floating-point resolution. So now if my H5 dies, my Zoom capsule mic investment is safe for a few more years. The H6 with the included XYH-6 mic is selling for 189.00 (3/24), so for a little more than the price of this mic (which I just bought) I got another quality Zoom capsule mic with a supposedly better recorder attached... This SSH-6 shotgun mic lets you capture focused sound ahead of you with ambience for outdoor/nature sound capture. Indoors you can use this for crisp voice recordings in mono-mode, in side-stereo mode you'll hear a lot of room reflections. A Don King-style hairy windscreen is included. You'll need to purchase a foam screen separately. This is the last proprietary connection mic I'll buy. Zoom Corp hooked me. Darn them...
Great Mic
I was shocked at how well this mic worked on my Zoom Camera. I didn't think it was going to be bad, but the sound quality is great!
