Am I able to use this as a DI box to put two shotgun mics directly into my camera's 3.5mm input?
Asked by: Jesse
No, the UAC-2 is a USB audio interface that can be used to send digital audio to computers and iPads. The analog output output signal is line level and you would need a Y-adapter with level matching and a 3.5mm adapter to connect to your camera's mic input. Additionally, the UAC-2 requires AC power. A better option would be to use a two-channel mixer designed for use with a camera like the Comica Audio CVM-AX3 Dual-Channel Audio Mixer for DSLRs (B&H # COCVMAX3) which is powered by a single 9V battery and will allow you to use two microphones at the same time and sends one signal to the camera. It can supply phantom power and plug-in power for mics that need it, and can be used with just about any type of microphone as well as with devices that send line level audio. There are level controls for each channel, a mono/stereo switch, and a headphone jack to monitor while recording, The CVM-AX3 can mount on top of the camera with the included shoe mount, below the camera in the tripod socket, or mounted on a stand. The 3.5mm output cable is included and it sends a mic level signal to the camera's mic input.
