FotodioX SNYE-TOUGHE-P-LT overview

  • 1Description

Helping to provide a stronger and more secure interface between the lens and camera body, this TOUGH E-Mount LT Lens Mount from Fotodiox is a replacement mount for Sony E-mount camera bodies. On select E-mount and NEX camera bodies, the original mount was a two-piece design that incorporated both plastic and metal; this mount was sometimes prone to wiggling or potential light leaks when heavier lenses were attached. This all-brass mount is designed to replace this design and afford greater stability, security, and eliminate light leaks.

Camera Compatibility
Compatible with all Sony E-mount cameras, however is recommended for the:
Alpha a7, a7R, a3000, a5000, a6000, a3500, a5100, NEX-3, NEX-5, NEX-C3, NEX-5N, NEX-7, NEX-F3, NEX-5R, NEX-6, NEX-3N, and NEX-5T cameras.

The Sony a7S, later a7-series cameras, and many of the pro E-mount video cameras already have an all metal mount and do not benefit from this modification.

    FotodioX SNYE-TOUGHE-P-LT reviews

Tough E-Mount LT Replacement Lens Mount for Sony NEX/E-Mount Cameras is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replace plastic with Metal parts Very easy to install with a few preliminary cautions: 1. I strongly recommend that you use a high quality screwdriver with a handle that has a comfortable grip for removal and replacement of the screws. I found the screws required much more torque to break them loose than I expected. 2. I used a soft flexible sheet of plastic to cover the lens mount opening to prevent the four screws from falling into the camera body during removal and replacement. The FotodioX mount was a perfect fit on the A7r and now I will order one for my A7 and if I start using my larger lenses on my A6000 I may have to go for a third one. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone that will be using heavy zoom or telephoto lenses with these e-mount bodies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A definite improvement I have owned a Sony A7r for only a few weeks and noticed the wobble in the factory mount soon after first attaching a lens to the body. In reading reviews for the Tough E-Mount replacement mount I saw that most people reported that it helped them, so, for a relatively small investment, I ordered the Tough E-Mount (LT version) from B&H. I received it the next day(!) and in about 5 minutes replaced my original E-Mount with this new mount. It appears to be nicely machined and is very solid, but my 2 lenses (FE 16-35 and FE 55) don't mount quite as smoothly as they did with the original Sony mount. Once the lenses are mounted however, there is noticeably less wobble on my 16-35 and the 55 is rock solid. I'm hoping the reports of a more robust mount in the A7II and A7rII are correct, because Sony should have done a better job with this mount right out of the gate with the original A7's.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not perfectly crafted I purchased this to upgrade my Sony A6000. But the lens release pin does not go thru the hole on the tough e-mount. Contacted manufacturer to the solution but not one call back. I had to file the hole little by little until the release pin went thru. A part sells at this price should be perfectly crafted with no issue for installation what so ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What I wanted I bought it to replace the mount of my Sony A6000. It worked exactly as it was supposed. I noted that lenses fit now tighter to the camera. It was very easy to replace, just removing 4 screws and use the same one to install the new mount. It doesn't come with screws, so is necessary to use the same ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have for Sony A7 A must have for early Sony A7 model with plastic mounting ring. This one piece metal mounting ring really nailed it. As many A7 users have complained the wobbling issues when attaching heavy lense, This is what you need and a must have upgraded parts. I am shooting with the G master 24-70 and the weight had just crashed the original plastic mounting ring... I immediately noticed the difference after installation. It gives you more confident to hold the camera single handed and feels way more secured. A little issue you might encounter is the locking pin hole. You might need to fine tune it a bit because mine was blocking the pin to pop out. Overall experience is very satisfying and I highly recommend this mounting ring to any ongoing A7 user. You will find yourself pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Fix This a must for all A7 owners who are having excessive play issues with their FE-Mount large Sony Glass. I swapped out the stock lens mount with this beefed up all metal mount ring in about 5 minutes. Simple procedure of removing 4 screws. lifting out the plastic insert and replacing it with the new all metal mounting flange. Replace the 4 screws and your done. No more lens slop, or vastly reduced lens slop. Something Sony should have done in the manufacturing phase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A vast improvement over stock when using heavy lenses. I never had any issues with the original a6000 mount until a put the 70-300 on it, at which time i noticed a fair bit of deflection when the lens was not supported. I purchased this with the hopes of firming things up, and am very pleased with the result. Lens attachment is very firm and crisp, with zero movement or deflection when mounted. I had an issue during install that should be mentioned though. The product does not come with instructions, but the web is littered with videos or descriptions, and it seems to be quite straight forward. Most folks will say that this product converts the original 'two piece' mount into a 'solid one piece', I would beg to differ! There is a third part to the mount, a small metal ring/tension spring - and in my case, this spring ring was attached (stuck, really) to the plastic portion of the original mount during removal. As no mention of this spring ring is made in Fotodiox's Youtube install video (or most all others), I had no reason to doubt the setup, and continued with installing the product sans spring ring. The result was a very loose and sloppy feeling mount - an order of magnitude worse than the original! I was about to package the product and send it back, when I decided to do a bit more research on it... and to bring a long story to an abrupt end, just know that: the tension spring ring must remain in place with the camera body for this product to work correctly! Without it, it's unusable. With it, it's wonderful!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No brainer This upgrade is easy and a no brainier. Just make sure you have a QUALITY set of screwdrivers!! Some of the cheapo screwdrivers will not loosen the mount. Craftsmen and Wiya seem to do the trick. Fit is great and the lens mounts firmly with no play.
