Ampridge MightyMic Overview

The MightyMic Pack from AmpRidge allows you to directly connect the headphone jack output on the MightyMic L (sold separately) into a powered speaker or mixer. It is designed to work with applications such as GarageBand, and uses the microphone input setting to monitor the sound and listen while recording.

In addition, the MightyMic Pack also allows you to use your phone as a pre-amp to directly provide a signal to the powered speakers 1/4" input jack.

The package includes one 20' 1/8" extension cable and one 1/8" TRS stereo mini-plug to a 1/4" mono plug adapter cable. The adapter cable mixes the left and right channels together (sums) rather than shorting them in the same way as a standard cable.

would this work with the Canon VIXIA HF R80 ...

would this work with the Canon VIXIA HF R80 Camcorder?
Asked by: John
We have not tried our microphone with this camcorder. However, it appears to have the same microphone input as the Canon SLR camera's. So it does not appear that working with this camcorder would be a problem. However, I do not see a hot shoe on this camcorder. So unless you want to do some type of Velcro mounting I don't see how you could secure the microphone to the camcorder.

Will this work with a Canon VIXIA HF R500?

Will this work with a Canon VIXIA HF R500?
Asked by: Richard
I do not see a hot shoe on this model so I do not think our microphone would be a good fit for this application. The MightyMic SLR was actually designed for SLR cameras. The camera does show a 3.5 mm diameter stereo mini-jack so I think our package would functionally work but you would have to devise some type of mounting solution, like Velcro, but this may not be a great solution.

question

Will this mic work with the built-in camera app or with Filmic Pro when recording video? Looking for a simple solution to record teacher audio from across the room with iPad, and this looks like a possibility.
Asked by: Ron
Unfortunately I was only able to use it with the suggested app movie pro for about 5 or 6 dollars. Couldnt use it with iMovie or any video programs on my IPad.

question

Will this work with gopros audio adapter?
Asked by: Taylor C.
We have model called the Mighty Mic G that works with the GoPro 3 and 4. If you have a newer one then you would need their USB to mic adapter. Then this should work but I do not know where you would mount the hot shoe.

question

I'm using my iPhone 5 to video record interviews. How will the audio quality work in a space with minimal background noise and no internet service?
Asked by: Anonymous
You need MoviePro to link the mic to iPhone. The MightyMic W Wireless works well when there is loud background sound. Record fine when he is a strong voice without background sounds. When the background sounds are strong or not there is a voice in the foreground, it does not work well.
