Nikon S7000 overview

  • 1Description

The COOLPIX S7000 Digital Camera from Nikon features a 16MP 1/2.3" CMOS image sensor to capture high-resolution imagery and full HD 1080p video at 30 fps. It has a 20x optical zoom lens with a 35mm equivalent focal range of 25-500mm. For even further zooming, a 40x Dynamic Fine Zoom feature effectively doubles your reach. Vibration Reduction helps to reduce the appearance of camera shake when shooting at the long end of the zoom range.

Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity pair with Nikon snapbridge, allowing you to easily send images from the S7000 to your compatible smart device, and from there share on your favorite social media sites.

16MP Image Sensor
The 16MP 1/2.3" CMOS sensor provides quality imagery and low-noise stills and videos up to ISO 6400.
20x Zoom NIKKOR ED Lens
The S7000 has a 20x optical zoom NIKKOR ED VR zoom lens with a focal length range of 4.5-135mm, giving a 35mm equivalent of 25-500mm, which covers wide-angle to telephoto shots with a maximum aperture range of f/3.4-6.5. It features ED lens elements for improving sharpness, color, and image quality, as well as Vibration Reduction to reduce the appearance of camera shake. An electronically controlled ND filter provides additional control.
3" LCD Screen
The S7000's 3" 460k-dot TFT-LCD monitor has an anti-reflective coating, 5-level brightness adjustment, and features approximately 98% horizontal and 98% vertical coverage in shooting mode, and 100% coverage in playback mode.
Target Finding AF
With the COOLPIX S7000, Target Finding AF instantly and accurately determines your intended subject and focuses on it, not on just whatever is closest to the camera. Catch the shot you want on the first try. No more out of focus shots or the frustration of trying to get the camera to focus on the right thing.
Full HD 1080i60 Video
4-axis Hybrid Vibration Reduction helps you shoot stable, smooth videos without a tripod, and a built-in microphone captures stereo sound. You can also apply creative effects, combine short video clips into a 30-second montage, and create time-lapse movies right in the camera.
18 Scene Modes
With 18 Scene Modes, including Beach, Snow, Night Portrait, Sunset and more, it's easy to match the moment to a Scene Mode. You can even get creative and use Scene Modes to alter ordinary shots. Or, select Scene Auto Selector and let the camera choose the best mode for your situation.
Wi-Fi and NFC with snapbridge
Nikon snapbridge describes the experience of quickly and easily sending photos wirelessly from your Wi-Fi & NFC enabled COOLPIX S7000 to a compatible smartphone or tablet. Share your great photos on the go, even in remote locations, or use a smartphone or tablet to control your camera.

Nikon S7000 reviews

COOLPIX S7000 Digital Camera is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from great, simple camera I am an advanced amateur photographer with two SLR bodies and four lenses. I use this equipment for heavy duty adventure, nature and wildlife work. I always carry a small point & shoot in my pocket for people, family and grand kids events. My 8 year old Nikon point and shoot is getting a little feeble so I replaced it with the Nikon Coolpix s7000. While my old camera was superb in its youth, this new camera is several generations better. I t does everything I need and the speed and quality of my shots are superb. I recommend this camera without question. However, when in the boonies shooting large cats & birds, my SLRs with the 80-400 VR cannot be beat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for my purpose I wanted a small camera with quality optics to shoot macro shots of engraving. I am a firearms engraver and can never have enough photos of the infinite variety of styles and patterns for reference. The Nikon S7000 suited this purpose perfectly, since I am familiar with the Nikon system. My main camera Nikon is a D7000, but having a small, pocket size camera is handy when I don't want to lug the big one around. I haven't mastered it's use yet, but am sure it will be perfect for the purpose. On the negative side, I wish Nikon would have included a manual, so that I could set it up to suit my requirements. Carrying the the downloaded version available online with 100+ pages on 8 1/2 X 11 paper negates the convenience of the camera's small size. At some point I will be familiar with it & won't need the manual as much, but I'm not at that point yet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad but not great either The camera is light and compact and it is ready as soon as you turn it on. The screen is bright enough except under very bright sun. There are only so much you can do with customizing the settings. The worst design flaw is the placement of the flash which is directly under your finger as you are holding the camera with your right hand. Unless you are very careful your middle finger will likely block the flash. Nikon needs to design a small ridge under the flash so this would not happen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from takes magnificent photos I do a lot of nature photography, but because of my poor eyesight must rely on autofocus. This camera produces magnificent results, whether zooming in on a bird at distance or using macro to record the bristles on a tiny insect. It may take a while to grab a focal plane in extreme macro. But for its price tier, the camera does everything it should do and much more. It's nice and light, can be carried in a shirt pocket, which is fantastic on the trail. I do not use the wifi features. Menus are completely transparent. Manuals not particularly insightful, nor is Tech Support of any use. To wit: The camera's interface with the photo editing software on my Macbook is a little geeky. I found that i have to import, export, and REimport in order to have complete functionality. Nikon Tech Support was NOT helpful in this. Their answer was well, it's just a point-and-shoot camera, you're not really supposed to do anything with the pictures after you import them. Really Nikon? Really?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to beat for the price. Indoor photos with a flash are good to very good. Outdoor photos are excellent - good color, excellent resolution. Focus is accurate. Like most point-and-shoots the shutter is slow, but I expected that. It's an excellent camera to carry when I don't want to carry my Nikon DSLRs. I know more expensive point-and-shoot cameras offer much more control and flexibility, but for the price, this little Nikon is just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot better than your cell phone camera I Bought this to go on a cruise it was so nice to put it in my pocket and pull it out when I need it everybody around me had cell phones and could not get the pictures like I was The zoom on the camera is amazing and I was able to turn it around and get great selfie's to I didn't have to guess how the point the camera since I couldn't see the finder but if you point the camera directly at you it works pretty well and I had so much fun with the time lapse I used a very small tripod for that and everybody love it on Facebook

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would recommend this camera. I've had the camera for a couple weeks. So far, I'm thrilled. A great point & shoot. It's very close to the size of a poker deck, and lightweight, so it's pocketable. I'm not a pro, but I think the image quality and color rendition is excellent. Better than my previous Canon Power Shot. And the CMOS sensor does much better in low light. Great zoom. The controls and settings are reasonably intuitive. I'd be very comfortable in giving this camera as a gift, and if I had to buy for myself over again, I'd by it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and easy and WOW what a Telephoto I needed a small and light camera to augment my Nikon 610 with the 28-300mm zoom. The S7000 fits the bill perfectly. It is sharp and fast. The 20X telephoto is kind of an overkill but it's nice to know it's there when you need it. I really like the compact size and sharp Nikkor lens.
