    Sennheiser RS195 reviews

RS 195 Digital Wireless Headphone System is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from You Get What You Pay For I normally don't write reviews but in this case I thought it important. If you have difficulty in hearing your TV, have the problem of hearing speach above background, these headphones will make viewing TV fun again. Unlike other headphones it has several settings to improve speach recognition. True, some of these settings reduce the overall volume but in my case it works just fine. It's similar to a tone control but thats not what it is - it appears to work on frequencys so you can tune it to improve your personal loss of hearing. I would recommend this product to anyone having a problem hearing TV clearly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch headset After looking for a top quality headset for quite some time and using another headset for several years (which was a problem to use because of interference and the constant need to readjust it) I purchased the Senheiser RS-195. I debated about getting the better 195 model, but am very glad I did. I have a severe hearing loss since birth and this model allows me to adjust the frequency response to my hearing. It has made a world of difference in my enjoyment of TV, particularly movies. I use to go into another room and do something else when my wife was watching a movie or show because I could not understand everything they were saying, even though I wear a hearing aid. The only thing I use to understand was the news. Now I can finally enjoy a movie or show. I use the optical cable to connect to the TV and it works well without any problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from UNDERWHELMED The first RS 195 I received was a complete lemon. It would not charge its batteries, and their tech support was useless. Fortunately, good old B&H exchanged it for a working unit, and they made the exchange smoothly and flawlessly. My review of the working unit has to be taken with a grain of salt, because I have major hearing impairment. That said, I bought it in the belief that, coupled with my hearing aids, it would be an improvement over the speakers I use with my TV; it was NOT. I spent the $$for this unit because I hoped it would enhance clarity, and the fact is that I hear better with the sound bar (a Yamaha Sound Projector) connected to the TV than with the phone. This review is directed at people who have hearing impairment and hope that the RSP 195 will be very helpful. My wife, who has good normal hearing, complains that the headset is heavier than she expected.I don't think it's worth it to pay the extra money for this model.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not User Friendly Gave it a chance using it for 3 weeks but found no appreciable sound quality than my less pricey Sennheiser. Ergonomically very poorly designed. Heavy, cumbersome, can't use laying down and after an hour, I guarantee you a sore neck. Definitely going back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Purchase but Special Listening Features are Subtle For several years my wife and I have been using wireless surround-sound headphones in our condominium as a courtesy to our neighbours and to improve the clarity of movie dialogue. Although we have a 5.1 sound system we cannot increase the volume to the speakers enough to be truly effective without disturbing our neighbours. When our existing headphones required too many applications of duct tape to keep the broken plastic in place we purchased two pairs of the RS195. I was concerned about buying these headphones sight-unseen from an online dealer and tried instead to source them from a local supplier. I searched extensively within 250 miles of home for a retailer who could demonstrate/sell them to us- all to no avail. So I read the online reviews and convinced myself that I could not go wrong buying from B&H. We are very pleased with these headphones. My wife has remarked several times on their physical comfort although I myself find them to be a little tight after a few hours - because of head size no doubt. The audio quality is excellent for our purposes but I am not an audio aficionado and cannot discuss the quality in technical terms. However, we now hear movie dialogue and subtle movie background sounds that we cannot hear on our previous generation of wireless headphones. We are no longer looking at each other when watching a British drama on Masterpiece Theatre and remarking What did he say? However, I would like to convey my experience with the RS195's special listening features - specifically the adjustable left/right balance control. I have a slight hearing loss in one ear and was expecting to use the RS195's balance control to give more emphasis to weaker ear. However, the improvement I expected did not materialize. Although the volume was increased on the weak side, the volume to the other side was also slightly reduced as soon as I moved the balance control knob from its centre-detent position. In addition, the overall sound quality delivered by the headphones was affected. The sound is more vibrant with the balance control in the neutral position and somewhat muted when moved to either side. As a result, we keep the balance control in its centre-detent position and use the RS195 as conventional headphones. I think this dampened/muted effect has been noticed by other reviewers when they experimented with the headphones preprogrammed listening-profiles feature. I and pleased with the purchase and would purchase these headphones again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive I love the sound from these headphones what I have been searching for years. Crisp clear sound great range. I had difficulty hooking up only because I was trying to hook them up to receiver through the back but once I got the right cable I was more than happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I recommend this product. Works great. Everything easy. Holds a charge. Walked outside to my car without losing reception or one word. Found out the difference in my hearing right and left. Best is that I can have the volume loud without disturbing anyone. I am glad that I treated myself to this quality.
