    Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I reviews

3MP Outdoor Mini Bullet Camera is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for indoor or outdoor use I bought three of these and have been very happy so far. They are well built and come with included Windows software for setup and monitoring. They also run a web server that can be used for configuration, but that requires plugins in your web browser. I use these cameras with Zoneminder under Linux, indoors and out. A few observations: the IR LEDs will attract bugs so motion sensing can have false triggers. Indoors, the IR LEDs do a good job to illuminate a room. Outside, it doesn't reach two car lengths. The cameras comes with an Ethernet jack and a barrel connector for power. It does not come with a power adapter. Plan on using an external supply with a barrel jack or a PoE switch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, inexpensive camera I use this for home security and it does a good job at it. The picture quality is much better than the Dlink 2332L that I currently use and side by side, I'm noticing a lot of missed detections from the Dlink since I use motion detection recording on both. There is also a lot more information on the internet from other users with the HIKVISION camera than the Dlink, so you can get other people's perspective and what they did to tune in their camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Quality This is the official USA Hikvision camera that comes in the red and white box. The product is fully supported by Hikvision and the image quality is outstanding for a very fair price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good, with some restrictions First: This is the genuine US market version of the camera. I had previously ordered one through @, only to find it being delivered from China, and arriving with everything in Chinese. The camera is relatively easy to set up, although it is delivered with next to no documentation, and the online user manual is almost useless. At least with the current firmware, I was not able to use an NFS partition on my NAS (Synology) to store the video. Switching to a SMB partition worked fine. I find that recording 1080p takes 50GB for a full day's recording.Motion detection is pixel based. What this means in practice is that it is generally much too sensitive, and will constantly be triggered by insects attracted to the IR light at night. I have given up on using motion detection during the hours of darkness. While on the subject of motion detection, it can send a trigger to an NVR (which I am not using) and also email a sequence of three JPG images to a list of email addresses. This works fine. What I can't see any way to do, is to trigger video recording only on a motion event, so I have to just record full time. This is not limited to this camera, if you want decent motion detection at night, you really need a more expensive camera using a PIR detector. If used indoors, motion detection at night would probably be ok. Assuming your house is not full of insects. The IR illumination lights up a room pretty well. It is not so good outdoors. It does work, but it is really not bright enough, and the images are very noisy. What little documentation that is delivered with it refers to using an IE browser, and loading a plugin to control/view. Fine if you use Windows, pretty useless if you don't (I don't). There is a control application (iVMS4200) obviously written for Windows, which has been ported (wrapped in an emulator) for Mac. It works, even if it is a bit clunky. So you can actually configure the camera. I find that I get better video using VLC to monitor the RTSP stream.Overall, I am satisfied. I would prefer not to have the product rely so much on Windows, but that is common for products coming out of China. I would have liked the ability to have motion events trigger some pre-defined period of video recording, and I would have liked better motion detection and IR illumination, but for the price, I really can't complain too much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Camera seems good quality. The videos produced are of excellent quality. Not initially obvious: run the included SADP program to reset the camera IP and password. I could not get the included iVMS surveillance program to function, and eventually replaced it with a free open source program iSpy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good IP Cam I bought two of these it was not too complicated to install. Only con is that you would need Internet Explorer to view the cam, because Chrome and Edge does not allow to run the add on. The picture quality is very good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice camera I haven't actually mounted the camera yet but I did multiple days worth of testing with it on a tripod in multiple locations where I would like to install cameras. The build quality is nice. Case and base are aluminum, not plastic. I was impressed with the day and night vision capabilities. I am not a security camera expert, but I think the images look great for a 3MP camera. I compared zoomed images between this camera and my cell phone camera during full daylight. The cell phone (Iphone 5S) images were substantially better, but then again the 5S phone has an 8MP camera compared to the 3MP in the Hikvision camera. Therefore the performance is relative to the image resolution. One complaint, the MJPEG decoding is not the same resolution as the H.264. I tried two different video imaging programs and the best option I could get was like 480 lines. Considering high def starts at 720 and this camera will go to like 1200, the MJPEG is considerably lower resolution. The image looked great but I was hoping for full resolution in MJPEG. The camera passed my test so I will soon start buying more and building my security system.
