Kowa BD32-8 overview

  • 1Description

Combining an advanced optical design with a sleek form factor, the 8x32 BD32-8 XD Prominar Binocular from Kowa pairs their Prominar XD elements with a phase-corrected Schmidt-Pechan roof prism design. This combination helps to achieve a high degree of viewing clarity through the reduction of chromatic aberrations. A C3 coating has also been applied to the glass elements to maintain brightness, improve contrast, and produce consistent and accurate colors. Combined with the 8x magnification, this versatile binocular also features a close minimum focusing distance of 4.9' and a wide apparent angle of view of 60°, making it well-suited for both general and close viewing applications.

A rubberized chassis offers durable and secure handling and the housing has also been nitrogen filled for water and fog resistance. Twist-up multi-step eyecups benefit clear viewing in bright lighting conditions and a KR coating has also been applied to the exposed optical surfaces to protect against dust and dirt, and to aid in cleaning.

Kowa BD32-8 reviews

8x32 BD32-8 XD Prominar Binocular is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent optical value Was looking for 8x32 binoculars good enough for birding with a budget of $. Although I went with a different product (mostly due to issues of personal preference and ergonomics), I was very impressed with the optical performance of these for the money. Sharpness, brightness, control of chromatic aberration, and color richness were all more than adequate. Flare (internal reflections from strong off-axis light sources) was well-controlled. They appeared well-made and had a solid feel. Anyone looking for an 8x32 pair of binoculars in the $ - $ range should definitely check them out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great binoculars for the money When I travel to do bird photography I like to take mid-sized binoculars to save space and weight. For several years I used Zeiss Conquest 8x32 binocs, but my wife likes these so much I gave them to her. Rather than buy a second pair of these fairly expensive optics, I did some research and found that this Kowa model tested well on one of the well-known binocular testing sites. I bought them and have been very happy with the purchase. They are solidly built without being overly heavy, and the optics are terrific. They focus to a very close distance and perform remarkably well in low light situations. They compare favorably to the Zeiss Conquests I gave to my wife. There are likely slightly better midsize binoculars, but certainly not at this price point. Highly recommended!
