Add the speed and storage capabilities of RAID, Thunderbolt 2, and USB 3.0 to your Mac and Windows systems using the G-RAID 8TB 2-Bay Thunderbolt 2 RAID Array from G-Technology. This array features two SATA III 6 Gb/s drive bays, each of which holds one removable 4TB enterprise-class hard drive, for a total capacity of 8TB. The drives have a rotational speed of 7200 rpm and are configured in a RAID 0 array. Moreover, this G-RAID is outfitted with one USB 3.0 port along with two Thunderbolt 2 ports, which deliver daisy-chaining capabilities.

This G-RAID features an internal RAID controller which supports hardware RAID 0 (optimized for performance), RAID 1 (optimized for data protection), or JBOD. This will allow users to access, browse, edit, and backup their digital library. It is well suited for demanding creative projects, such as those involving HD, 2K, and compressed 4K workflows. In addition, it may also be used for storage-intensive applications, such as audio editing, digital photography, music libraries, data backup, and more. This array uses a smart cooling fan to help ensure quiet operation, a long life, and data reliability, as well as an all-aluminum enclosure to help increase its durability.

While this G-RAID is compatible with both Mac and Windows, it comes pre-formatted for Mac. When reformatted for Windows, it is compatible with Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. Included with this storage array are one Thunderbolt cable, a USB 3.0 cable, a power cable, and an AC power adapter.

    G-RAID 8TB 2-Bay Thunderbolt 2 RAID Array (2 x 4TB) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works just fine I'm using this product to store video files. It is fast. I use it in an HP Workstation with a Thunderbolt 2 card. I like it's metal package. and that I can replace the two drives inside as they are filled. Others have commented on the muffled clack sound the drive(s)make when active. I think the metal housing acts as a sort of resonating chamber for the working disks. If I put a weight on top of the drive, the sound is deadened a bit, but in any case this certainly more of a curiosity than a problem. I've been pretty busy, so haven't figured out how to have the drive power off when the workstation shuts down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great storage for film production Our studio has used numerous brands of hard drives but G-RAID remains the most reliable. Others are good but when we are moving valuable files from camera media to editing drives this brand has proven itself. G-RAID gives us peace of mind and that is the very reason we continue to purchase them. It is the only brand that I am willing to give a five star rating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable and Fast I use this on my Macbook Pro and it works great. Pros: 1. Easy to setup 2. Very fast 3. Quite operation 4. Looks great Cons: 1. Price - I think it is a little on the high side. This drive hosts all my photo and video files for use with Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. So far things have been fast and the drive has been very reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product with exceptional customer service. I bought the 8 TB (2x4) to backup my photographs. I wanted a RAID 1 system for the redundancy storage. After looking at numerous brands and models, I decided to get this G-Technology Thunderbolt 2 USB 3.0. It came with the RAID 0 setup. I contacted customer service a couple of times and they responded in an extremely short period of time to each question. I will certainly recommend this product to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely terrible item and customer service I bought this drive and it arrived with issues. The drive made loud and constant clicking sounds which I found out was a manufacturing error so I wanted to make a warranty request. The process for getting my GRAID fixed / replaced has been an absolute nightmare. The phone numbers listed on their website lead to disconnected numbers and there is no easy way to complete an RMA without extensive research. FINALLY I was able to find out who I should ship the drive to. However, upon UPS saying they've successfully shipped the drive to the factory the RMA checker says that they have not received my drive and it has been weeks. I will not be buying any G-Technology products ever again as the stress and hassle of buying this product is just not worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent hard drive Bought this for photo storage and backup, easily reconfigured it for RAID 1. So far it is fast and reliable. Fast enough with the Thunderbolt connection to use as my primary photo storage and lightroom processing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Big G of Back-up Boxes It's silent. Like it's-not-switched-on-at-all silent. Yet it chomps data for breakfast. Fast. Byte by terabyte. I use it to back up movie jobs-in-production on my movie Mac. The in-Mac 2Tb drive/s handle the storage and processing, which is then backed up to this data-hungry carnivore. Which means that movies in progress are always backed up - so if there is ever a Mac crash, the data is no more than a few hours out of date. No, I'm not using Time Capsule because . . . well, I don't want to. That's easy. Go on. Buy two!
