The TM-1018/S 10.1" Touchscreen LED Backlit Camera Monitor with 3G-SDI Connection from Lilliput is a field monitor with HDMI input and output, designed for use with DSLRs and higher standard cameras. With a high-quality panel, the monitor features a capacitive touchscreen function to access and operate the internal settings functions. It also features a 3G-SDI connection for professional broadcasting.

The monitor offers integrated waveform, vectorscope, video analyzer, luminance/color/RGB histograms, luminance/RGB parade/YCbCr parade waveforms, and other waveform and measurement modes such as peaking, exposure, and audio level meter. These assist users to accurately monitor when shooting or playing back video footage.

Level meter, histogram, waveform, and vectorscope can be displayed horizontally at the same time, while professional waveform measurement and color control help the user realize and record natural color. Composite and component through BNC connectors and HDMI inputs cover all the bases for common broadcast applications. Also included is an HDMI output, avoiding the need for HDMI splitters.

Histogram
  • RGB histogram shows the red, green, and blue channels in overlay histogram
  • Color histogram shows histograms for each of the red, green, and blue channels
  • Luminance histogram shows the distribution of brightness in an image as a graph of luminance
Waveform
  • Waveform monitoring consists of luminance, YCbCr parade, and RGB parade waveforms, used for measuring the brightness, luminance, or chroma values from a video input signal
  • It not only can warn the user of out-of-range conditions such as overexposure errors, but it can also assist with color correction and camera white and black balance
Vector
  • Vectorscope shows how saturated the image is and where the pixels in the image land on the color spectrum
  • It can also be displayed in various sizes and positions, allowing users to monitor color gamut range in real time
Audio Level Meter
  • The audio level meters provide numerical indicators and headroom levels
  • They can generate accurate audio level displays to prevent errors during monitoring
Widescreen Panel
  • The 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio makes the TM-1018/S ideal for a variety of audio/video applications
  • It can be used in TV broadcast rooms, audio-visual installations, and as a preview monitor with professional camera crews for both on-camera and video village installations
IPS LED Screen
  • The TM-1018/S monitor uses IPS screen panels that allow for high pixel pitch, which gives wide viewing angles and base resolutions of 1280 x 800, allowing upscaling to a Full HD 1080p signal
800:1 Contrast Ratio for Crisp Sharp Colors
  • The TM-1018/s monitor boasts a rich clear and sharp picture, thanks to a high contrast ratio and LED backlight
  • The onboard matte LCD means all colors are well represented and no reflections are evident on the screen
  • The LED technology brings great benefits in terms of low power consumption, "instant-on" backlighting, and consistent brightness over years of use
Made for DSLR Cameras
  • The TM-1018/S monitor has a large range of compatibility, with all major DSLR camera types supported using HDMI input
  • It allows for convenient shot-taking, letting you see the shot clearly before taking
Advanced Camera Functions on the Fly
  • Packed with advanced features such as peaking, histograms, false color filtering, exposure, and many more
HDMI Pass-Through
  • The TM-1018/S monitor includes an HDMI output which allows the user to duplicate the video content onto a second monitor, without the need for HDMI splitters
  • The second monitor can be any size and picture quality will not be affected
Optional Battery Plates
  • Battery plate options allow for battery compatibility with 90% of major battery types including a choice of two from Sony, Panasonic, and two types of Canon, with an extra charge Gold mount and V-mount plates
Audio Monitoring on Device

Lilliput TM-1018 Reviews

Soft image, but great features

I originally planned to use this monitor in a teleprompter, but found that while the image can be flipped vertically it cannot be mirrored. This made reading copy from it impractical. And although the backlight can get quite bright, the image is extremely soft for a monitor at this price - I think because of the touch layer. The touchscreen does provide quick access to a ton of great features however, including focus peaking and false color. Both are critical because of how soft the image appears. I'm actually not sure what this monitor would be best suited for. I work mostly indoors and it probably wouldn't be my first choice. But it's hard to dislike it too much because of how convenient it is to bring up a waveform overlay, vector scope, etc. I just wish I could have traded the touchscreen for a sharper image, with the ability to mirror as well.

Great Features, but Picture is less that great.

We purchased 4 of these units for ourPanasonic AG-UX180 cameras. Using SDI in, picture isn't crisp. Waveform and touchscreen is great.

I bought this when it was on sale with a package. So far so good. I hook this up to my dslr's when shooting video. I love the false colors. It really helps you nail exposure. It is tough to judge on most dslr's and this is a perfect companion to help alleviate that problem. The controls are easy to use. I never read the manual and can pretty much do anything I want with no trouble. While not the brightest monitor in sunlight. It is still not a problem to use out in bright daylight if you shade with your hand to judge the image. The scopes are accurate and the focus peaking is a great feature to have. It saves time from punching in on the dslr and just gives accurate focus every-time. The touch screen is a nice feature. Did not notice how much I liked it until I had to use my Marshal on a shoot that needed SDI and I kept touching the screen with no results. So despite the fact I'm an idiot. It did show me how much I rely on it. If you are looking for a bargain monitor with a ton of features you will not go wrong with this one.

Does the HDMI-only (No SDI) version have image flip, to permit use with a teleprompter?
Asked by: martin
It depends It's important to note that while this monitor does have the ability to flip the image vertically, it does not have the option to mirror the image. So if you're using it as a teleprompter for reading copy you're going to struggle because the image will be reversed. The image is also incredibly soft, I think due to the touch screen layer, making this a very poor choice as a teleprompter.
