Made specifically for the M-4 platform, Steiner Optics' OTAL-C IR Offset Tactical Aiming Laser is purpose-built for covert night operations and is designed with a compact form-factor that allows it to be mounted forward of night vision sights without obstructing them, and its laser emitter is offset from the center axis to project it around the front iron sight. It is outfitted with a 850nm Class I infrared laser that runs on a single included, and readily-available, AA battery. The IR laser is ideally suited for shot placement using NV sights or for target designation using optical NVDs.

Textured tactical windage and elevation dials can be adjusted by hand for quick shot correction, and molded guards help to reduce snag points. A rear-facing toggle switch provides simple on/off activation, and with the addition of an optional remote pressure pad switch users have access to momentary activation with a single tap of the pad, or five continuous minutes of use with a double-tap. The housing is made from the lightweight and durable 6061-T6 aluminum alloy with a corrosion and scratch-resistant matte-black Type III hard-anodized finish. A quick release Picatinny rail mount is integrated into the housing to enable fast and repeatable tool-free removal and installation without having to re-zero the sight.
