The Especial Medio Cycling Laptop Backpack from Timbuk2 is a stylish backpack capable of holding a 15" MacBook in an internal slip pocket. The main zippered compartment is convenient for stowing larger items like books or a jacket. A small, elastic, interior pocket at the top of the main compartment is useful for organizing accessories such as your phone charger or wallet. Two small outer pockets allow quick access to additional items like your phone or sunglasses. The front panel and zippers on each side of the backpack open for an expandable option to accommodate bulky items. There are two side stretch pockets for water bottles or U-locks, and external compression straps for cinching or expanding the bag.

The bag can be carried using either the adjustable shoulder straps or the top carrying handle. Also the back panel is ventilated to keep you cool during warmer days. A small zipper pocket on the back of the pack allows you to store your iPod or MP3 Player in close proximity. Elastic bands on the backpack straps provide a routing option for headphones. Additional features include reflective hits and a vista loop for attaching a blinking bike light for safety.

Especial Medio Cycling Laptop Backpack (Black) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 108.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect commuting backpack Bought this backpack two years ago for daily commuting (16km round trip commuting in the French Alps, all weather, city + mountain terrain), and it is almost perfect. Super nice design, super practical with all its pockets, safe because visible, perfectly weatherproof, big enough to carry a laptop + changing clothes + changing footwear. It still looks like it is brand new after two years of daily use. The only downside is that the two straps are a bit too close the one from the other, so it can be a bit painful around the neck when you are not wearing a high collar top, and when the backpack is almost empty. Less an issue when it is loaded.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This backpack is not waterproof!!! I use this bag to commute almost every day to work. The reason I selected the Especial Medio after a lot of research was the size and the fact that it was waterproof. I was assured by the sales person at the store that it would keep the water out. It is also clearly stated on the website. This backpack is not waterproof! Maybe water-resistant at best. Today was a rainy day, one that requires a waterproof bag. My commute is around 50min. My cloths in the bag were wet! My laptop was wet and the screen is ruined!!! Do not buy this backpack if you are looking for something waterproof!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great when it is not raining I did a lot of searching for a weatherproof bag that would be comfortable on my 60 min (each way) daily commute. Many website reviews - many in store reviewing. I passed on the Chrome models as they did not have a nice fat and rode up too hight blocking my view over the shoulder - I passed on the roll top dry bags as they had no compartments. When i found this bag i thought it was the holy grail. It does have the rubber waterproof zippers and they describe a waterproof compartment. - unfortunately during all of my wet weather days this bag leaks at the seams soaking the laptop, papers and clothes. That aside it has a lot of room, great pockets for all your kit, sensible water bottle holder and secret pocket. Everything you could want in a commuter bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I was skeptical about getting another pack as my closet is full of them, but after getting this bag I've given away several others to make room for it. I use this pack everyday commuting to work. I can fit shoes and gym clothes into the specific pockets of the bag besides a lunch and work documents/laptop. The bag can carry everything I need but still has a low profile look and sleek design. I'm also in love with the straps and back support, they allow airflow through so you won't get sweaty cycling to work. The back foam also has a cut out for your spine so you won't feel your laptop digging into you back while cycling. Its a perfect commuting bag, I use it everyday.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Commuter Backpack Good bag. 3.5 Stars. I use this backpack for school. Can carry quite a bit, but not as much as i thought it would be able to carry. Although its a deep bag, it can't hold a lot in terms of expansion. Books/Folders can't be stacked on each other. BUT, i did go grocery shopping and fit a bunch of stuff in it =]. The velcro strap for the u-lock is also slightly awkward. Its a bit hard to just shove the u-lock in the pocket and ride off without taking the backpack off. Would've been much better if the strap was not a velcro. I would recommend this bag to a friend if it wasn't as expensive. Don't get me wrong, its a good backpack, but for some reason i expected more for what i paid, because ~190 +/- after taxes is a bit steep.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I will not buy Timbuk2 products again I bought the bag just 2 years ago. After using it for a year, the bag starts to wear out. I had written email to timbuk2 and all their reply on the life warranty is that i send the back to san franc..The means that you will have to pay additional money to send the bag over and back.. Morale of the story... If you are an oversea buyer and thinking that lifetime warranty will be covered.. think again before buying... I've got 3 bags from timbuk2.. i really feel regret buying from them...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice This was a gift for my son who uses it for college It fits his helmet, workout gear, laptop and school stuff easily and so far has worked out great. Lots of pockets and compartments. Miss the dedicated padded sunglasses pocket his old e pack had, but this holds his bike helmet and is nicely padded. Not to heavy and comfortable. I thought there was a free gift available (a bike pack) and checked the box when ordering but it did not appear on my invoice or with my order so not sure what happened and never followed up after holidays. Order took longer than expected to arrive but came in a cute plastic bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bag with one big flaw. This is a 9 our of 10 star backpack. Lots of bells and whistles, well made. I'm taking away one star because the water bottle pockets aren't deep enough. Even the one with the strap above it doesn't nothing to keep the water bottle in. The bike bottles or Klean Kanteen always falls out when you bend down to pick something up or handle your bag to where the bag slight starts to lean down. Lot of bike commuting bags have this same problem. This is why professional cyclists who are bike messengers who make there own bags and sell to the bike messaging community like Vessel Workshop, Trash Messenger Bags, ReLoad bags, and so in always make their water bottle pockets two inches deeper then the bottle itself. This never happens with my bike messengers backpack by Vessel Workshop. I bought this bag by Timbuk 2 as a day pack for cycling when I'm not working. Maybe if Timbuk 2 would put a very sticky rubber around the inside of the water bottle pockets this would prevent the water bottle from crashing down and making a scene. This would be the perfect day pack for cyclists if it weren't for that. I'm a gear head and know my gear and every pack pack out there as well as the prices. If you would have slapped a Mission Worlshop label on this Timbuk 2 bag it would have been $300-$400. Timbuk2 has a great price on this bag for what you get. Backpacks are an investment that will last for 5+years.
