    Samsung BD-J5700 reviews

    BD-J5700 Wi-Fi Blu-ray Disc Player is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 216.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low Quality This is nothing special and in fact falls below the bar...Samsung is always removing apps and choosing to no longer support popular apps (what is the point of that?). I don't even use the device often and yet it always seems to freeze. Waiting for it to boot-up can also be time consuming. For example, sometimes it "pretends" it no longer has my wi-fi info saved or that it cannot connect and there is absolutely nothing from with my router. Overall, Samsung has a quality issues with many of its electronics (i own many Samsung device and most of them are problematic). I recommend buying a better quality product from a reputable brand like Sony.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good price, semi-weak performance I use this player for Blu-rays, DVDs and to stream Netlfix. It was a great price, but the thing straight up freezes randomly when streaming Netflix. Has to be unplugged to get it to work again. Haven't noticed it doing this while watching a disc yet, so my fingers are crossed. Also, there are no indicator lights on the unit. Seriously, how much could one LED on the front indicating the unit is powered or not would it have cost? Def going w/ a different brand next time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The great feature about this product is that it can make your old TV smart Great simple product to make your old TV smart. However found several issues with the the compatible features of the product such as : 1. No light indicator on the unit to tell you weather the unit is On or OFF. This very essential to know at a glance the status of the unit when switching from TV to Blue Ray. 2. When pressing the home button or switching to the unit is a slow response to see the picture on screen 3. There are basic apps in the unit but you are out of luck if you need to select any app which is not included with the unit. I can use very few apps. 4. Selecting and storing the available apps from system is a chore. Unfortunately I am very unhappy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very versatile dvd Have several Samsung products including a 75" DLP TV which still rocks. Too bad they stopped making this TI technology as it still renders a certain depth of field that only DLP can produce. New 4k technology is brilliant but still lacks DLP depth of field which I suppose only the trained eye of a photographer would value. I Like the quick link to netflix on the new DVD and the improved upload time. eliminated a remote by dumping the old brand x. Overall a great value. This unit replaces a "High end" blue ray which failed to capture my Wi-FI. Samsung has never failed to assist with any of their products even after years of ownership. Stick with Samsung .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product lacks on/off light I purchased this Blu-ray player to replace the same model player that I purchased about 4 years ago. I expected the current model to be essentially identical to the older model, only with a few upgrades to newer technology. Unfortunately, the J5700 seems to be a step backward. There are no lights on the front indicating that the door is open or a DVD is loading or a clock to show the amount of time that a DVD has been playing. In fact, there isn't even a light to tell you the player is on. This is very annoying. I would consider this device to be an basic entry level model rather than a more middle of the road. The player even seems to be a little flimsy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little box! We had a surround sound/dvd player before this. This dvd player is easier to use and is "smarter". I was very happy to find the feature for streaming Amazon Prime in addition to Netflix. Having the controls for my Samsung TV integrated into the remote enabled me to put the TV remote away. The remote is smaller which is good for space management but harder to find the right buttons quickly. We should able to memorize them soon so that issue should go away. It is weird to not have a power on light but not a major issue (my husband complains about all of the ambient light in our home with the various power and clock lights so he prefers it to not have the power light).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from #2 Just Died In 4 Days!!! I am on number 2 of this device since the 9th of Jan. Best Buy keeps letting me return them. However, its getting very irritating. Both worked for a few days and then bam, in the middle of watching Netflix it dies, will not power off or on. And the fact there is no light whatsoever to tell if its on or off is very frustrating. We have bought new power strips to plug into. The only thing on the power is the tv, blue ray player, and an xbox.. I am sick of it, we will be taking this one back and just getting a total refund and going with something else.. Too much of a headache...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No power LED Bought this player to replace old DVD player. Player worked OK but looks cheap and has no power indicator. How can Samsung make there costly blu Ray play look so cheap compared to their Inexpensive up-convert DVD player? Could not tolerate not having a power indicator so returned player. No power indicator was an extremely poor design choice by Samsung. It probably saved them a few cents per player but cost them much more in lost sales and returns. I expect better from Samsung.
