  • H7 Heart Rate Sensor for Select Smartphones and Polar Devices (M-XXL, Black)

The black Polar H7 Heart Rate Sensor for Select Smartphones and Polar Devices (M-XXL) is an integrated chest strap and heart rate monitor designed to measure the user's heart rate. The H7 sends data wirelessly via either a Bluetooth data transmission to a compatible smartphone with supported heart rate service applications or to compatible Polar devices using a coded transmission. Additionally, the H7 features magnetic data transmission technology, GymLink, that allows the sensor to wirelessly communicate with other gym equipment. The strap is connected around the user's torso, just below the chest muscles. The H7 will transmit heart rate data while swimming to compatible Polar products, but the Bluetooth signal will not transmit.

This M-XXL sized H7 sensor fits chests measuring from 27 to 60".

Polar A300 reviews

A300 Fitness and Activity Monitor with H7 Heart Rate Monitor (Charcoal Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This activity monitor is the best I've owned for the price. This is the best pulse monitor I've ever owned (and I've owned several...mostly Timex and Polar over the past 25 years or so). I ordered this and the first one did not work after one session, but B&H shipped me another one after I sent the defective one back. I've been using it for 2 weeks now and I can say that you will not be disappointed, especially if you are a high intensity/endurance workout person. It is accurate and very easy to use, and it will give you more than enough data feedback if you are an elite athlete.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed Feelings My wife recently purchased the A300 with H7 heart rate monitor from B&H as a gift for me. I've had it for a couple of weeks now. My feelings are mixed. It has definitely gotten me to exercise more, but I think that's mainly due to the novelty (for me) of the heart rate monitor, as I've never before had a device that records this information. It seems to be a well made device, although I do think I may have received a bad unit (see numbers 4 and 5 below). I like the vibrating inactivity monitor which reminds me to get up and move. I like that the A300 band and the H7 chest strap are replaceable, as they're certain to wear out after a while. (The band on the Fitbit Charge HR, which I also considered, is apparently not replaceable.) I like that it's waterproof. I like that it automatically monitors my sleep quality, though I'm not sure yet how accurate that really is. I'm very step focused in my exercise, and not sure if the A300 is the right device for me. It does track your steps, but it's kind of an afterthought, like Oh, and by the way, if you really want to know, here's how many steps you took. The focus of the A300 seems to be more about heart rate, calories and fitness level. Some of the negatives for me so far: 1) The A300 tracks your steps, but you can't configure it to display this data by default on the main screen. It takes three button presses to see how many steps you've taken. You can, however, configure it to display an activity bar, which shows visually how close you are to achieving your daily goal. 2) I'd like to be able to set a very specific goal of 10,000 steps per day. You can't do this with the A300. To set a goal, you specify a setting for your activity level, which can be 1, 2, or 3. This must be done in the Polar Flow web app. Then you sync the A300 with the web app via USB connection. This transfers the desired activity level setting to the A300. Polar must use some kind of formula based on a combination of your personal data and activity level setting to determine when you've reached the goal, but it's not directly translatable into number of steps. 3) In the morning, I go out for a long brisk walk, and during these sessions I want to monitor my heart rate. Once the A300 has been paired with the H7 heart rate monitor in recording mode, it is no longer possible to see the number of steps you've taken, no matter which buttons you press. It's still recording them. You just can't see them. You can only see the number of steps again after the conclusion of the training session, when recording mode is exited. 4) When the A300 is paired with the H7 heart rate monitor, if you bring your wrist close to the H7 device on your chest, a proximity sensor will trigger the A300 to temporarily flash the current time. I really like this feature. However, some days it works just as advertised, and other days it works not at all, like this morning, for instance. During my walk, I must have tried it twenty or thirty times, even lifting up my shirt and touching the A300 directly to the H7. Yesterday, though, it worked perfectly. But the day before yesterday, it didn't work at all. Maybe I've just got a bad A300 or H7. 5) Sometimes the A300 pairs quickly with the H7, but other times it could take several attempts and maybe two or three minutes for a successful pairing. That may not sound so bad, but I find it annoying. I want it to be ready to go when I am. This morning I got a successful pairing after a few tries, and started on my walk, but then it quickly dropped the connection and the heart icon disappeared from the screen. I had to stop and reestablish the connection. But then it did maintain the connection after that. 6) When I first received it and had problems pairing the A300 with the H7, I wondered if maybe the battery was missing from the H7. You need to use a coin to open the back of the H7, but the groove is rather wide. A nickel seemed to work best for me, but it's not perfect. I'm afraid that after repeated openings and closings, the edges of the groove could wear away, making it difficult or impossible to open. For my Fitbit Zip, the manufacturer thoughtfully supplied a little plastic key that fits the battery cover perfectly. Polar should really do the same. I'm sure it couldn't have cost Fitbit more than half a penny, and it was a nice touch. 7) The instructions for removing the battery from the H7 heart monitor are almost comical, suggesting that you use a sharp-edged knife to pry the battery out. I've seen online where use of a knife in this way has resulted in some people damaging the threads on the battery cover while replacing the battery. I really think Polar needs to come up with a better design for this, with some sort of release mechanism. 8) Even with careful use, I'm certain the A300 plastic screen will be scratched up in no time. It would have been nice if the A300 had a mineral glass screen or if Polar had at least provided a screen protector. 9) I find Fitbit software to be far superior to Polar software. I knew this was probably going to be the case, based on what I had read, but I didn't realize just how important this would be to me. The Fitbit software is so much more user-friendly and configurable. 10) If you need support, I suggest you avoid the online chat if you have more than one question. I tried this, and it was a very painful experience. I must have been on for thirty to forty minutes and still didn't get through all of my questions. There was no question that the rep was able to answer on their own. Everything was Oh, let me gather some information on that, and then maybe five minutes would go by before they would respond by apologizing for the delay and saying they would be right with me. It soon became obvious that the reps must be overwhelmed, engaged in multiple chats at the same time. So I ended the chat and called the support line with my remaining questions. This was annoying too, because the message said the wait time is more than five minutes. How is that supposed to help me? That could have meant six minutes, thirty minutes or two hours. Tell me the actual estimated wait time so I know what to expect! Luckily I had to wait only ten to fifteen minutes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Keeps me motivated Love being able to see how many calories I burn during workouts which is the main reason I bought this. Not sure how accurate the steps actually are and if you are sitting, standing, etc. but it does know exactly when I go to sleep which is amazing. I got a great price for both the watch and strap. App and online profile are very easy to use as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product from best source. For some reason I had not bought from BHP for a few years. Just bought a Polar A300 watch / monitor. Also ordered by phone which I have not done for ages. Efficient and polite. Product arrived on time. Notification and tracking by mail first class. Thank you!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME Alternative to the FitBit - Same Cost I have a FitBit Charge HR which has constantly frustrated me with inaccurate CALORIE counts - especially during weight lifting routines and, well, general ranch work outdoors (shoveling, tree removal/pruning, horseback riding, etc). Polar's always been known for their heart rate monitors and, when I was deciding on a replacement for the FitBit, that did 24/7 activity monitoring, the A300 kept popping up as the go-to device. What I've found, through the past several weeks of owning this device is that it's highly accurate when worn with the chest strap. I'm using it to help gauge my calories in/calories out and, with a few weeks of use, I've found it to be dead on and helping me with my fat loss program, whereas the FitBit would under-estimate my burn (sometimes by as many as 1500 calories per day, or more) and I was always in starvation mode. This unit has a few more features than what I might normally use that add, a bit, to the complexity of the website (Polar Flow), however, once you get past the few minor details, this thing rocks. I just wish I hadn't spend $ on the FitBit Charge HR, first... I should have just bucked up for this, in the first instance.
