Nikon P900 Reviews

COOLPIX P900 Digital Camera is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 237.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from For birding look no further I purchased this long zoom camera primarily to photograph birds and it has not disappointed. Focus is fast and accurate most of the time. Big improvement over the P510 I previously owned. Very happy with the quality of the images especially in the ISO 400-800 or lower range. No need to carry a scope. Able to capture photos of birds not possible with a shorter zoom camera because you have a great working distance that does not scare or disturb them. Cons: Wish it had come with a hard copy manual. When using Aperture priority the multi-selector dial is difficult to adjust. Would highly recommend this camera for any kind of wildlife photography.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice point and shoot but no 600/f4 Was able to get out for some wildlife shooting this week with the P900. Overall it is good. It has a difficult time focusing on smaller subjects that a D3 or D800 would immediately lock on to. On the plus side, it is quick to maneuver into position for a quick shot at a difficult subject. Lack of RAW is a minus. I've tried on a tripod and it gives good results. For just grabbing a camera that will give good results, it will definitely find its way into my backpack or vehicle on a drive where I may have an opportunity for an unexpected shot. Here are a few examples from this week with the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for shooting the moon and wildlife This is a wonderful and reasonably priced camera in terms of just the focal range of the lens. But it also has a lot of nice features: a view finder as well as a LCD monitor (the camera detects your eye near the view finder and automatically shuts off the LCD); a smooth slow and fast zoom; WiFi capability; built-in flash and stereo microphones for video. Textured grips on the right side and on the lens make it easy to hold the camera steady. Others have complained about the weight (almost 2 lbs.) and the size of the image sensor (16mp), but I think Nikon did a great job of fitting that 83X zoom lens with a body that has a view finder and a flash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Camera I purchased this camera for the long zoom and i was not disappointed. This camera is fantastic. The menu system is easy to understand i set up my camera without reading the owners manual. The photos are great and video is also very good. I purchased this camera for long range photos of birds and animals. It is perfect for that. Battery life is good, i get about 425 photos per charge. Camera is a bit heavy but you would expect that for a 2000mm lens. Believe it or not, i can get sharp photos handheld at full 2000mm zoom. I highly recommend this fantastic zoom camera. Image quality is very good for a small sensor bridge camera. I still recommend a tripod to get the best photos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best ever bang for my buck I actually did not use the product for myself. My husband has had a camera since the day I met him almost 35 years ago. He has had most ever (affordable) camera out there and most every conceivable format. When he saw this camera on a web site he was hooked. However with two kids in college he refused to spend the money on himself, so I put a few dollars aside here and there and purchased it for him for Christmas. I have not seen him so happy in a very long time. When spend a great deal of time out driving to play with it, so to speak. It has actually been the catalyst for us to spend more time together. The best sacrifice of my life. Now I want one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Impossible Camera! Surprisingly good image quality for a small sensor camera, but the biggest feature, the 83:1 optical zoom, is impossibly good. I've used Nikon gear for over 50 years and have a range of bodies and optics covering 16 mm wide angle to 600 mm telephoto, but the P900 at 2000 mm (equivalent) provides reach and resolution I can't get with my pro gear! And the VR is very impressive, both for telephoto work and for long exposures at wider views. Pros: incredible telephoto along with usable normal to wide angle, great for most general photography and wildlife shots. Cons: not great for action photos or serious scenic work, but usable for almost anything!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ready for Anything PRO: Best zoom range in the market 24-2000 Sharp at full zoom image stabilzation Easy, sharp Macro Usable wide angle 24mm easy card and battery management good battery life change card or battery while on a tripod CON: Max aperture of f/8 Slowest shutter speed 15 seconds Does not shoot in RAW I bought this camera to shoot wildlife without the heavy camera body and lens. I am walking around with a 2000mm lens in the palm of my hand. I won't do any specialized work with it like landscapes or night photography because I shoot RAW for that. It is a great all around camera with great image quality and lots of available features and for my wildlife needs, it does just fine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera I've had the camera for a week. With many years of Nikon experience, the learning curve has been fairly quick. For the price, the P900 is outstanding. As advertised, the zoom is spectacular. Wildlife photography is it's primary use for me. Only weak feature is the autofocus with a moving object (like a flying bird against the sky). Lighter than higher end DSLR's. Even with a very fast memory card, the upload speed for a batch of burst photos is one to two seconds. To get the best images, a tripod should be used for higher zoom settings. Moon images are very good. Macro is an added benefit and works well.
