How does this compare to Profoto A1X?

How does this compare to Profoto A1X?
Asked by: Joe Adreon
The Nissin Di700A Flash for Sony Cameras and the Profoto A1X AirTTL-S Studio Light for Sony are both excellent yet different products positioned at different price-points. The most obvious difference between the two is going to be in the resulting light distribution pattern. The A1X's round head will result in a more even light and fall-off pattern than the classic rectangular speedlight head of the Di700. The Di700 is powered by 4AA batteries(battery life of about 200-1500 flashes depending on power setting) and has a recycle time of 0.1 to 4 seconds. The A1X on the other hand is powered by a proprietary lithium ion battery (rated for 450 shots at full power) and recycles at full power at a blazingly fast 1 second. The A1X also has a modeling light which can be very useful in numerous situations. Both products are extremely capable, it all comes down to your priorities and particular needs.

Can i use this Flash direct on shot shoe Sony aRII for shoot High Speed Sync ?
Asked by: nang
Hello and thank you for the question. Yes, the Di700A will work directly in the A7R II with High speed sync. To active the HSS feature on the flash, press and hold the pilot light button for 3 seconds. The pilot light will begin blinking. When it is blinking, you are in the HSS mode. To turn off, simply hold the pilot light button again for 3 seconds to turn off.

Do you sell a separate power pack that would plug into the Nissin Di700A flash, to provide BOTH more flashes than 4AA batteries in flash AND faster recycling time?
Asked by: Fredrick
Yes, Nissin make the PS8 Power pack which will work perfectly with this flash. Please note that you will still need AA batteries in the flash as you normally would to control the electronics. The PS8 simply powers the flash head, therefore giving you a much faster recycle time.

question

It appears in SOME of these photos the hot shoe attachment is different than my 2-year old flashes (poorly made, bad design). Is that an improvement? The shoe on mine are all plastic with no retaining ring.
Asked by: RICK H.
I have an older model as well. the plastic pieces broke off (very flimsy) and now I have to hold the flash in place.

Does this flash work with AA batteries?
Asked by: Benjamin
Yes, The Di700A uses four AA batteries. For best results we recommend a high quality Nickle Metal Hydride rechargeable battery. The Di700A also has a port to attach an external battery as well, such as the Nissin PS8 Power Pack
