The black 1TB Amphibious X5 Mobile Encrypted Hard Drive from Rocstor is a single-factor authentication, real-time, hardware encrypted external hard drive with a capacity of 1TB and a rotational speed of 5400 rpm. Designed and engineered to satisfy the requirements of organizations concerned with data security, the Amphibious X5 is also bootable, bus powered, and compatible with Windows and Mac environments without any software installation required.
In addition to being a hardware-based encryption device that helps secure data against hackers and information thieves, the Amphibious X5 supports the 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) Algorithm in real time with virtually no loss in disk performance. Once deployed, all the data on the X5 is protected from unauthorized access in the event that the device is lost or stolen. While in CBC (Cipher Block Chaining) mode, the encryption meets certifications from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard FIPS Level 2 for a cryptographic module. The Amphibious X5 is authenticated by a secure password (PIN number), which is typed on the device for authentication and only then is it ready for secure data transfer. The feature of the Amphibious X5 mobile is that it has an embedded keypad allowing you to key in your PIN directly onto the unit. This ensures protection from key-loggers who may be recording your keystrokes on your computer. Together with full-disk encryption, these feature give you the absolute level of protection.
Advanced Encryption Standard Algorithm AES 256-bit key strength Real-time encryption (virtually zero time in encrypting and decrypting the data) Military-grade hardware encryption (not software embedded in a chip) Available with ECB or CBC modes Single-factor authentication - password protected The cryptographic engine supports the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) of USA and CSE (Communications Security Establishment) of Canada certified hardware AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm FIPS (U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard) 140-2 Cryptographic Engine validated No software or GUI involved or required installation (for encryption or authentication)
Ruggedized pocket-size portable external storage drive Bootable Bus powered (no adaptor required) Carrying case included Incorporates SATA hard drive (up to 1TB) or solid-state drive (SSD) USB and FireWire connections Transfer Speeds up to 800 megabytes per second Compatible with both Windows and Mac environments Includes all necessary cables
DAR - Data at Rest Special epoxy on the circuit board No licensing fees No maintenance (or extra fees) No software to install Hardware encryption (no software imbedded in a chip) Real-Time encryption (virtually no delays in encryption and decryption operations) Operating System (OS) independent (Mac, Windows, Linux) Low Cost of Ownership (Low cost [$] per Gigabytes)
Secure Shock-Absorbent Mechanism
The full-length bridgeboard helps provide additional protection by physically supporting the storage drive. A strong aluminum rim helps hold the drive chassis firmly in place, eliminating stress on the bridgeboard and preventing damage due to impact or violent movement.
The shock-absorbent damper strip between the bridgeboard and chassis helps offer additional resistance against accidental drops and bumps.
Thermal Protection and Load-Bearing Case
The density of the rugged aluminum border helps provides heat dissipation and is strong enough to bear external weight.
One of the secure hardware-based encryption chipsets is integrated into the internal circuitry of the amphibious lines. The chipset contains features such as Advanced Encryption Standard Algorithm AES 256-bit key strength and real-time encryption so that there is virtually zero time in encrypting and decrypting the data. While in either CBC (Cipher Block Chaining) or ECB (Electronic Codebook) modes, the encryption chipset bears certifications from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and FIPS Level 2 for a Cryptographic Module.
