    iBasso DX90 reviews

DX90 High-Performance Digital Audio Player is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holy Cow.... A long time ago, I was guitar instructor. Lately I have been getting into higher resolution music, such a FLAC. My career involves air travel, and I was noticing that although my headphones worked with my android phone, and the sound was okay, it wasn't getting me very excited by the quality. I read some reviews on a few of these types of devices, and decided to give this little guy a whirl. All I can say is WOW. This little guy is now a permanent fixture to my life. It goes anywhere I go. I plug it in while I'm driving, and listen to it through the car stereo, and it travels with me. Only downside is that now I want better headphones...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Audio File Transport Failure. All of my music is in AIFF format, I use JRiver Media Center 21 for Windows as my Library Manager. I have ripped all my music using Normalize to 95% before encoding to ensure Volume Normalization. Volume leveling does not compress the music or affect dynamic range; it just changes playback volume. Volume Leveling also does not alter the audio content of files; all volume adjustment is done using DSP at runtime. So when playing my music through the Media Center software every song plays at the same volume and I have over 600 songs from different genre's and decades. Now what this player Does Not Do; #1. It will Not play back the songs at the same volume even tho the information is already encoded into the AIFF file. So If I am in my car having this plugged in through my Aux port the volume is always needing adjusted. Walking the neighborhood using in-ear headphones is a real pain to not have this volume leveling working. #2 This does Not play Music by Genre! Now that is just ridiculous. Try making playlists were you assign songs from your library one at a time. Oh that's not even the best part, you cannot name your playlists. They are Playlist1, Playlist2, Playlist3, etc... What a Joke! #3 This has a Coaxial out and comes with a 3.5 mini to Coaxial male for connecting to another external DAC only. My Denon Stereo and my Denon DAC do not have a single Coaxial input for audio. For me to connect this to the main stereo in the house I had to purchase a 3.5 mini to dual Coaxial male (left and right channel) cable. #4 Starting Volume output level should be set low to about 150. Yes I put my DX90 to the Max 255 when connecting it to most of my devices including my powered speaker at work, the issue is if you get complacent and forget to turn down the volume to 150 when you connect your headphones, you can do Real damage to your ears and let me tell you it is extremely painful. I would much rather have the hassle of turning it up every-time I turn it on or connect it, as opposed to making that mistake again. The positive about this DX90 is; #1 It is Firmware up-gradable so I am hoping the can hire someone that knows what they are doing to address these issues and offer them in a future firmware update. #2 I do like the layout of the hard buttons and function on the DX90
