LG PF1000U Reviews

Minibeam Pro PF1000U 1000-Lumen Full HD Ultra-Short Throw 3D DLP Projector is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good Short Throw Projector LG PF1000U Projector is a very good in-terms of performance set-up, takes very less space. I am also using LG PF750 also With this image looks excellent with any type of background. However with PF1000u the background must be Flat otherwise the image looks Wavy. This is due to the projection type.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy customer So far I am very happy with this projector. I installed it in a room where this projector was the only possible choice to get a 100 screen. As others have said, it will only deliver a good image in a dark to very dark room. The image is not distorted at all (after making all of the Edge adjustments). I would recommend this for people that want a portable projector solution or have a specific requirement where they cannot install a conventional projector from the ceiling (or don't want to). Sure I wish it was 4K but for the money this delivers a nice picture and the 3D works well also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from couldnt be happier amazing product, still cant believe how clear it is at 100+ inches. I actually had a very negative experience with a customer rep over their chat and was set on avoiding bh photo altogether, but after a day or two realized whatever happened or was going on with her i shouldn't let that stop me from saving money because bh has the absolute lowest price on this projector if youre planning to buy new thanks to no added tax when shipped outside ny NOTE: my living room has no windows so I cant speak to the brightness in another set up but for me it was excellent

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well done, LG. I have this projector setup in my apartment living room. I have paired this with a silver ticket 120 screen and a z5500 5.1 system. I have it fed by a hdmi cable box and hdmi PS3. I'll directly move my optical cable directly to the source and have not tried the optical out from the projector. I also first & only projector purchase, so I'm unable to compare it against other home projectors. Thoughts: -more than adequate picture quality for 120, though I'm not sure that at 100 it would look that much better -overall setup is fast/easy and looks clean without wires -projector noise occurs after highest eco mode, 3 modes total and 2 of them produce fan noise -requires dark room for best results -for day-to-day use, i use the built in speaker and regular blinds as opposed to blackout curtains and surround sound -projector is feature rich: motion remote, built in apps/wifi, iphone remote app (projector must be on), built in TV tuner -very lightweight at 5lbs (could be portable, if you decide to do so, recall that you'll have to control room lighting if you use it for business) -no VGA, only HDMI/component/composite -haven't tried the 2x USB ports -open lens design will require cleaning or a cover, i use a microfiber cloth to cover it when not in use -LED powered so it turns on/off very quickly, much like a regular TV and no bulb to replace, listed at 30000 hours -paired my qc35 headphones via bluetooth audio out to drown out chore noises (washer/dryer/vacuum/rug dr) -minor projector position adjustments make big results as to the screen position based on the severity of the geometry (lens 32 away from the wall produces 120 image) -vertical adjustment must raise lower projector itself (think pieces of wood, books, dvds, etc) -focus knob is there, but seemed OK out of the box -attached pictures of with/without lights -cannot wait for the next generation of UST projectors as I do not see myself going back to a regular TV

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best little Ultra short-throw? It comes really close but the are some minor flaws. Overall this projector hands down beats other projectors in it category. Excluding the 4k ust like sony and others that cost 1000s more. This projector has many features that you can find in most modern tv like apps, bluetooth, and internet. Now the some small problems. First lumens, its on the low end LG says it 1000 lumens which doesn't make nice with bright places. But if you can control the light in the room then it's watchable. Second make sure you have a flat, smooth wall or a screen. Screens make this projector way better in terms of reflection and uniformity, i.e. no imperfections from using a wall. Third, this is a defect in u.s.t., there's a curve along the top not to bad but noticeable. Maybe it can be fixed in a future software update. As you can tell most of the gripes are fixable. I did compare this u.s.t. to another from Optoma the gt5500. Which is high in lumes (3500) because it uses a bulb instead of a led. Also it lack many features vs the LG. So I kept the lg instead. Oh yeah the biggest plus on the LG is its size which makes it extremely portable. I've even heard you can also display a large image than recommended. Thats a plus too. So I highly recommend buying this projector for all it offers and its specs. You won't be disappointed with it.

The PF1000U is a DLP projector. It uses separate color LEDs, and the .47 standard TI DLP chip.

question

How much noise does this thing generate?
Asked by: Anonymous
Like most projectors, it does have a fan, and this makes some noise. With this design, the noise is up front, away from the viewing position however, so is less intrusive, and is generally not noticeable when in use, with sound from the movie/tv etc covering it up. There are three 'energy saving' settings (Minimum , Medium and Maximum saving. The sound level is noticeably lower on Medium or Maximum saving settings.

question

what type of ceiling mount can be used with this projector?
Asked by: Anonymous
Pretty much any support will do the job. There is 3 mounting holes on the projector. You have to have very high ceiling though to consider this option. I have tried it with my 8' ceiling and it was definitely a no go. If you go this way, the top of the image will start at the ceiling height minus the ceiling mount height (6in) minus the image delta from the projector in itself (20 in). Tilting the projector and resizing the image won't help neither to correct the image height. The wide angle mirror doesn't let you play with the position of a lot.I am now using the unit on a small table and I am very satisfied!

question

Crazy thought - will it work for a band in small venues? I have very low expectations -- would be for random fast cuts, psychedelics, etc. just for special xtra fx. Walls behind will be oddly painted, maybe fixtures & junk. Is this bright enough for that, please?
Asked by: Randy B.
Hi At night without a lot of light around yes .It had low ansi lumens so it's better in a room at night with little light around .N.

question

It says 3D in title but don't see it in the specs. Have LG 3D DVD player will it work with this projector?
Asked by: Edward J C.
Mine works with a Samsung 3D player so I would assume the LG would work. It does require active 3D shutter glasses and they have to be the DLP-Link style, not the Bluetooth type.
