Polsen SDC-2150-MP overview

  • 1Description

The matched pair of SDC-2150-MP from Polsen includes two small-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphones for capturing high-quality audio. They feature an accurate and fast response to transient levels and can be used in several applications for recording acoustic instruments such as close-miking pianos, kick drums, cymbals, snares, and more. In addition, as a matched pair the mics are excellent choices for use as stereo room mics or to capture stereo recordings of live performances.

Featuring a tailored frequency response with slightly accentuated mid-highs, the microphones capture sound naturally and can handle high sound-pressure level (SPL) with no distortion. The solid-metal construction provides durability and will withstand use in the most demanding environments.

The pair of SDC-2150-MP Small-Diaphragm Condenser Microphones are versatile and include mic clips with a 5/8" threaded socket and a 3/8" adapter, which makes them suitable for mounting on a mic stand or a boompole. A hard carry case is also included.

Cardioid Polar Pattern
The cardioid polar pattern is ideal for recording acoustic instruments and is less susceptible to picking up reflections, which makes it suitable for recording speeches or dialog in the studio or on the set
Tailored Frequency Response for Instruments
With slightly accentuated mid-high frequencies, the microphone will capture acoustic instruments with better accuracy and detail
High SPL Levels
The microphone can handle extremely high SPL levels without distortion and can be placed as close to a snare, kick, or cymbal as you want
Sturdy and Durable
Built with solid-metal construction, the mic can withstand use in the most demanding environments
Two mic clips with a 5/8" threaded socket and a 3/8" adapter are included for both mic-stand and boompole mounting
The hard-plastic carrying case protects the mics from shock and impacts as well as moisture and dust

SDC-2150-MP Small-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone (Matched Pair) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprised By new Low Cost Condenser Matched Pair Excellent Voice Recording and Electronic Keyboard Recording. Really needs to include a MIC Foam Sock. Starting to consider using these mics for Boom work instead of my Shotgun Mics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great condensor pair for the price First, I will state that I got this in the Deal Zone on sale. To be fair, I will evaluate the mic at it's regular selling price. These aren't going to stand up against some of my most expensive recording condensors. But, comparing the price per unit, I think these would come in at about 1/20th of the cost of one. These are nice microphones. I've tried them with acoustic guitar, banjo and mandolin, as overhead microphones for drums, close mic on some percussion, and also used the pair in a grand piano. For studio sessions, I will still turn to some of my old classics (Earthworks, Blue Bottle, Shure SM81), but these are filling their role and destined purpose well; I bought these specifically to take for sound reinforcement and recording at some outdoor festivals. I really hate taking my more expensive mics out on these types of locations and subjecting them to wide variations in temperature and humidity. And let's be honest, if you are a true studiophile, you'll realize I am not on the high-end of things when you look at my 'expensive' mic list, which is pretty much mid-priced stuff. What I can say, is that I have been doing live sound for nearly 35 years, and I do appreciate a good sounding mic at a great price, and the Polsen fits that description. I will put them through their paces this summer, and I hope they prove to be durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds Good to Me I'm not an audio expert, but I hooked these up to my Tascam DR-40 for some tests and they sound awesome for voice in a studio setting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good spectrum response These mics are surprisingly good sounding, being entry level price recording instruments. Tried them as OH room mics for drums as well as on 12 and 6 strings acoustic guitar recordings and yes, good. Can't beat the sound for the price. Recommended.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Static, humming, woo waaaah woo noises Didn't work with any of my devices even with different cables and pre-amps. The wee woo was so bad and the static was as well. Now I have to pay to send it back, ridiculous!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I expected I have not used them extensively as of yet. I did connect them to my H4n and they worked wonderfully.
