    Datacolor S5X100 reviews

Spyder5EXPRESS Display Calibration System is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 55.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very poor product I have received my Spyder5 Express this morning and it did a very, very poor job of calibration my two monitors. The first one I have calibrated, had a yellowish white balance. This is for sure not the pure white as I have before. On my second monitor i'is even worse. Everything on the screen in green like there were a green backlight under the screen. I have try two or three time with the same result. So poor that I have to desactivate Spyder calibration and return back to my NVidia calibration data . A VERY BAD PRODUCT for the price they sell this thing. It is more a toy than a serious gadget and IT DOES NOT WORKED AT ALL.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Calibrator, Fair Price As a multimedia journalist, It's crucial that my video, stills and graphics will play across my clients' platforms exactly as created. The Spyder5Express, a recent addition to the respected Datacolor roster, does just that at a small price for the confidence of knowing your work meets industry standards. This Spyder model is perfect for hobbyists, demanding photography buffs, videographers and other professional content creators. Documentation is excellent, especially online videos that walk you through downloading the program's latest version from Datacolor and giving your monitor it's first re-calibration which takes only minutes. Plug in the Spyder's USB cable, hang its lens over your screen, click start, grab a coffee done. The program's before-and-after images will amaze. My monitor was that off? Yes, and now it's not. Repeat the process monthly (Spyder5Express will remind you) and calibration issues are solved. Only one suggestion: Rather than comparing a fresh calibration to your monitor when un-calibrated, it'd be nice if Spyder compared monitor color drift month-to-month, revealing whether your screen is quickly degrading with age, warning of an eventual replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money!!! I have 2 monitors of same manufacturer and technology (IPS LCD/LED backlight). I did the calibration of both in the sequence, with same light conditions, and the colors look very diferentt. Repeated again and again, following all the instructions and still not accurate. Helpdesk is a joke!!! They told me to calibrate just one monitor or go for the expensive version (ELITE). By the way, I am not a pro user, just looking for correct color response in my home desktop. Keep away of this thing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't get the Pro or Elite version. This's good enough I use it with my MacBook Pro 2016 and a Eizo monitor. It works well on both Spyder software and EIZO-developed ColorNavigator software. First, the hardware is so nice cuz the color sensor is the same as the expensive version. Second, The software comes with the spyder5 Express limited the white point setting to D56 (6500k), which is your monitor's colour temperature. But keep in mind sRGB, Adobe RGB, BT709 & BT2020 also use D65 as standard white point. So u really don't have to pay more for the ability to change the white point. Third, the lack of ambient sensor. Actually Express has it. Only software disabled it. But its not a deal breaker for me because u have histogram and waveform monitor on editing programme. Dont get the Pro or Elite. This one is more than enough. Trust me. I'm a professional photo and videographer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job well at a great price! I am a member of photography clubs and recently began entering judged competitions. I only have a B&W laser printer and use professional printers to develop my images. Feedback from the printers were that my images were a bit dark, and I heard the same from the judges. I'm slightly color blind so I asked some club members about what might be the issue and they suggested getting a monitor calibration tool. I read over the reviews on B&H and decided to go with the Syder5Express. I've only used it once since the calibration should last for a month before recalibrating but so far so good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Piece of Hardware But... The spyder5 is an excellent piece of hardware for calibrating monitors as it is the same piece of equipment across the board with the spyder5 express, pro, and elite. The express software does not really have any positive reviews as after multiple calibrations i notice a constant change in color contrast and saturation with some calibration being short on red and greens and then others on he blue. The express software does not really show consistency in the resulting calibrations. For a more accurate color calibration go with either the pro or the express if you don't feel like using open source software. But of you feel like using open source software Right now I'm using the spyder5 express hardware with displayGUI and i am definitely pleased with the results of the software with more consistency and accuracy of the calibrations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Peasy I bought the Spyder5Express system at the suggestion of a photo workshop instructor. It arrived w/in 3 days, and was very simple to use: there's a short instruction sheet in the box on top of the packaging, which was accurate. I then had only to follow the instructions on the screen (which were also thankfully simple and accurate). Only takes about 35 minutes from start to finish (which includes the 30 minute computer warm-up time they mandate). My laptop screen needed small changes, which really improved the look of flesh tones in photos. Two thumbs up, from me!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Appalling customer service Cant download the software. Been trying for 2 days and so far only managed to download 16.7mb. After 2 scripted response from datacolor, they gave up answering. Complete waste of money and an appalling example of a bad company.
