    Datacolor S5P100 reviews

Spyder5PRO Display Calibration System is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 448.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Is newer better? I bought this Spyder 5 Pro as a replacement for my Spyder 2 Suite I have. I believed it must be better being a newer model. So far I'm not very impressed. It seems that I have less control for color then I did with the 2. I dislike the 5 USB cord as it is very flimsy and I really have to wonder how long it will be before it doesn't work, compared to the very stout USB cable on 2. The 5 does detect ambient light to set the screen brightness at and this wasn't the case with 2, so the effect now is a much lower brightness than I had with 2. Not sure this is better? I will have to do more work before I can state whether this adversely effects what I am doing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It did the job I was tried of my photo prints coming out darker then what I saw on my monitor and the color being off. After a quick search on the web on how to calibrate my monitor, I found Spyder5Pro. Spyder5Pro software was easy to use, all I did was follow the step by step instruction. I was happy to see the first batch of prints I order came back looking as I expected (matching the screen). Also, I had some minor questions which I emailed Datacolor with them and received quick answers back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Spyder5PRO Good But Not Great I've used this to calibrate two monitors so far my desktop and my laptop. It worked perfect on my desktop and my prints edited on my desktop are coming out as close to what I'm seeing on my monitor as had hoped. Unfortunately my desktop and laptop monitors aren't even close after calibration. I can't blame this totally on the Spyder5 part of the problem may be the limitation of the laptop monitor but the interface with the laptop isn't great and the results on the laptop were far from great. Bottom line I would definitely recommend this if you calibrating a desktop monitor but would hesitate to recommend it if your using a laptop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from it works once activated To be able to use the product right away you need to be able to access I had to go to my parents house and use their internet that is faster to upload and put in the new key number. Once you get past that, the product is easy and works as promised. I only gave it 4 stars because 15mbps internet in rural United States is not uncommon. Once you have the product keyed in, you no longer require internet access for future. My prior Spyder Pro 3 worked fine, but I wanted to upgrade and felt it was time. I have received my prints back from the lab and they look like they do on the monitor which is what this is supposed to help with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So glad I took the plunge I have a macbook Pro that is only a few years old. I a new to photography and it never would have occurred to me that I need to calibrate my monitor until a fellow photographer mentioned it to me. I tried using the in computer calibration system but I was so paranoid that my colors were off that I purchased this. and boy am I glad! my colors were waaaaay to warm. and as a color photographer thats big deal! I can't think of anything I don't like about it. I wish it could be used on my iPhone. Sometimes i am just shocked by the color difference between the phone and computer. If you shoot in color you need to get this. no questions about it. it is well worth the price to make sure your work is delivered as true as possible.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I would NOT buy again for me Neutral. I bought this product to calibrate my monitor with printer. The set up instructions were straightforward and easy. At the end of the process I was utterly dismayed at what I saw on my monitor. The monitor display was much dimmer and colors flat and grey. I was very disappointed and called the Spyder Pro for support assistance and being that I bought this between Christmas and NY, I would not be able to get help about anything until after the New Year. So I asked for refund. This is probably a GREAT product if you know about monitor calibration. If you don't know then stay away. Hence the word pro like if you make a living at photography. I have a good printer and monitor, and am happy with the output of my printing without the use of this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product I bought this on surprising price of $99 (thank you B&H). It is well worth it. I use it on a Linux (Ubuntu) with DisplayCal / Argyll. If not on sale - Color Munkey display is a good competitor. I like the ambient sensor of this product. It takes into account the light. I would recommend to manufacturers (if they are reading this) to consider opening the product more to Linux. Linux is a beautiful platform and this device together with Darktable is an incredible workflow. On the other hand - if you are a pro and you are using Windows / OSX - yes - this has drivers for them too. Windows calibrates fast and flawlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny Instructions must be downloaded before beginning. Once that is complete the directions are clear, even for a non-techie like me. My first calibration was done on my laptop HP Pavilion dv6. For some reason in the past I decided to manually calibrate the monitor and really messed up the colors. After calibrating with the Spyder 5 Pro the wow is back in my photos! I look forward to calibrating the two monitors on the desktop. The recommendation is to re-calibrate every month. When setting up the software you can agree to getting a notification. I love that! Now I am going to go look at my photos! This is a great gadget that can be used forever.
