    Datacolor S5EL100 reviews

Spyder5ELITE Display Calibration System is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 82.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Night and Day I was blown away by the change in my screen after using this thing. So I cannot recommend doing this more. However think about your needs hard before choosing your version of the Spyder, the only difference is the software and if you are super intense and just want to get your monitors more true then save yourself some cash and get one of the more basic models. This one if I understand it is meant for those who work in broadcast and need NTSC options, such as myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Match I am using the Spyder 5 Elite to calibrate my iMac 5k with excellent results. It has improved the color matching from my iMac to my Epson R3000 printer, reducing the need to reprint my photos. A BIG savings! It's very easy to use, giving the step-by-step wizard in the calibration software. This is the forth product from Datacolor that I have purchased from them with great results.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Accurate and Fast An efficient workflow is mandatory for professional photography. Time is money. Having accurately calibrated monitors, is one of the many critical factors that makes for an efficient workflow. The Spyder5ELITE Display Calibration System by Datacolor performs fast and accurate. Fast, it calibrates in shorter time than the Spyder Elite4. Accurate because my prints are so much closer to how they are shown on the monitor, allowing for the fact that prints and monitor have inherent differences. I rated it 4 stars because it is so tedious to re enter the software license number to the my MacBook Pro, when I have already registered. The software is basically useless without the unit itself, why punish the buyers of your product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent results with ease I've used Spyder5Elite for several months now on 2 separate monitors. It gives excellent results that compare very favorably to the real life images. It gives the option of a guided workflow that essentially tells you every step of the way, which isn't many steps to begin with. Or, you can tinker with just about everything from hues to gamma to white point and beyond if you wish and have the experience. It's so easy that I do a full calibration every month even though a shorter recalibration option is available. It's been money well spent. And, the difference between uncalibrated and calibrated is very noticeable. You really can't do proper photo editing without at least monitor calibration.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Color confidence I am a professional photographer and was getting color shifts from my new laptop to my iPad and desktop. The process was fairly easy and took about 20 minutes per display. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs to have colors consistent from one monitor to another.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING! WARNING! I had Spyder5 Elite for a while. Do not like it so much. There is no color profile menu such as Adobe RGB, Apple RGB, SRGB...... for user to select to calibrate agains it. Recently I upgrade to Spyder5Elite+. After paid the data color through their website. One week later their send me the serial number. I can not upgrade if they did not give the serial number. From their website user do not have any direct access to download the upgrade software. The link take user to Kayak site wit require user +password login. Another recommendation help from support site with click on Spyder logo..... is completely useless. Worst!!!! of worst! they took money. I can not download software but they are not bother to answer my request for help. I can not believe how lousy the support level they have....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a difference!! All I can say is wow! This took no time at all to bring monitor, ambient lighting and printer together. To say that the difference was immediate and profound would be an understatement. Always considered my Mac pretty spot on, but after calibration with the Spyder5ELITE, I understood how much I'd been missing. What's most amazing is the effect it had on my B&W images through print. The ELITE version may be overkill for some, but if you're doing B&W as I am, scanning in film, it's worth every cent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finding sRGB values Over the last 7 years I have been using X-Rites ColorMunki Photo as I used to print my own A3/A4 prints. Larger prints went to a professional finisher. However, even though I used an NEC 19 color calibrated monitor, I always wanted to know what color gamut it covered. Additionally, when I upgraded my Thinkpad T430 with its miserable disy to the new Dell Latitude E5550, I discovered just how difficult it is to get ANY information re. color gamut from anybody. Neither the techies nor sales had much clue and invariably quoted online resources... The Spyder 5 Elite provides sRGB, AdobeRGB and NTSC readings for the display u are calibrating. As a lot of my photography is for my travel blog, the latter two read-outs are of little value to me currently. The Spyder 5 Elite is indeed slower than the X-Rite, but this was not even close to being an issue the marketing boys banged on about as I only needed to calibrate two displays. On my NEC where do most of the color critical work, the Spyder 5 calibrated the monitor to a slightly warmer Kelvin readin overall than the ColorMunki. Quite pleasing actually. Ditto for the Latitude IPS FHD LG/Philips 15 display. But most importantly, I had some idea of the color gamut covered: 97% and 93% sRGB for the NEC and Dell respectively. AdobeRGB was 78% and 70% respectively. Without going overboard on a Dell Precision laptop which I cant afford/justify anyway, these are values I can live with. The only small fly in the ointment is that Datacolor no longer do color calibration of mobile devices. For me, on a Galaxy Note 4, its not an issue because of its sRGB coverage (98%)and in any case I would never use photoshop or LR on 5.5 screen... I thought a lot about my purchase b4 I bought. After 3 weeks of use, it was the right decision.
