The 800 Series Single PortPCIe to 8 Gb/s Fiber Channel Adapter from QLogic is designed to help IT organizations deploy and manage end-to-end SAN services across next generation data centers. The fiber channel adapter comes with a Host Connectivity Manager (HCM) which is a user friendly adapter management tool for configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting the QLogic BR-series adapters. The adapter also enables VM discovery in VMware ESX environments within BNA. It provides the necessary bandwidth and I/O power for most environments. The adapter supports NPIV with up to 255 virtual ports. The adapter accelerates server deployment with dynamic fabric provisioning.
Server Connectivity for Next-Generation Data Centers
The adapter is a class of server connectivity product with unmatched hardware capabilities and unique software features. This class of adapters is designed to help IT organizations deploy and manage end-to-end SAN services across next generation data centers.
Centralized Adapter Management
QLogic's Host Connectivity Manager (HCM) is a user friendly adapter management tool for configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting the QLogic BR-series adapters. HCM enables server administers to quickly configure BR-series adapters locally or remotely. HCM scans the SAN environment to discover visible storage resources and display target LUNs. It has a graphical tree view and provides fast access to the managed Host Bus Adapters, Converged Network Adapters, ports, and target storage resources. HCM also provides notifications of various conditions and problems through a user-defined event filter. In addition to providing a graphical interface, it also provides a powerful command line interface (BCU CLI) for scripting and task automation. HCM is integrated with Brocade Network Advisor (BNA) to provide end-to-end configuration and management of the entire SAN infrastructure.
The optimal performance of QLogic adapter provides the necessary bandwidth and I/O power for most environments.
Optimized For Virtual Environments
The adapter supports NPIV with up to 255 virtual ports and they are qualified with all major hypervisor solutions in the industry. By leveraging NPIV technology, organizations can not only extend QLogic fabric services to the server but all the way to the VM and application level.
Optimal Support for Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2
By supporting Windows Server 2012, the adapter enhances its ability to support Windows-based virtual workloads. Furthermore, support of the Hyper-V virtual fiber channel feature enables direct connectivity to fiber channel SANs from within a Hyper-VVM, allowing fiber channel SANs to seamlessly support Windows-based virtualized workloads. Support for fiber channel in Hyper-V guests also includes support for many high-availability features, such as virtual SANs,clustered VMs, live migration, and multipath I/O (MPIO).
Accelerating Server Deployment with Dynamic Fabric Provisioning
Dynamic fabric provisioning (DFP) allows organizations to eliminate fabric reconfiguration when adding or replacing servers through the virtualization of host WWNs. DFP combines Brocade switch and QLogic adapter technology to reduce or eliminate the need to modify zoning or LUN masking. In addition, DFP enables pre-provisioning of virtual WWNs, helping organizations to eliminate time-consuming steps when deploying new equipment or moving devices within a switch.
