AHMCTXL Cable Tester is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value for a sturdy tester Most cable testers do the same thing. They check for continuity, much like a multimeter, but eliminate the hassle of using mutimeter probes for each pin on the connector. So naturally there are not many frills with a cable tester. But there shouldn't be. A tester should simply work, be easy to use, be resilient in a production environment, and test a good number of connector types. The Palmer fulfills all of these requirements, and at a fraction of the cost of some other more popular and longer marketed name brand testers. The Palmer checks for simple continuity between pins, with the result indicated by LEDs. The auto mode takes half a second to kick in and cycle through the pins, while manual allows the user to go through each pin at his/her leisure. It's simple. It works. And as a maintenance tech for a large venue, it makes my life easy. Also, it's worth mentioning that each connectors has its own stress relief attachment to the chassis of the box (via a screw or bolt), so you don't have to worry about breaking the internall PCB by pressing or pulling too hard on a connector.
