Dracast DR-90 Overview

This bundle of a 90Wh Battery and a Dual charger from Dracast provides an expandable battery/charger solution for professional applications. Both the charger and battery feature a V-Mount and can be used virtually anywhere in order to power your camera. The battery features a 5-LED status indicator, and a D-Tap power outlet that provides power to accessories.

The Dual battery charger can accept two batteries at the same time and features pull-out metal feet to help prevent tip-over situations. The charger incorporates a 4-pin XLR connector, which enables it to function as a 12 VDC power supply. It includes a US 3-prong power cord; however, you will need to source an XLR cable separately.

Dracast 90Wh 14.8V Li-Ion V-Mount Battery

The Dracast 90Wh 14.8V Li-Ion V-Mount Battery is a memory-effect-free battery for professional camera systems. It features built-in electronics to protect the battery during charging and use, charger is not included with the battery. The 5-LED battery system provides an indicator that shows you how much capacity the battery has left before it needs to be charged. It incorporates a D-tap power outlet, so you can power accessories directly, instead of through your camera's electronics. With an operating temperature range of -4 to 122° F, the battery will keep working even in deep cold and extreme heat.

90Wh Li-ion professional mount battery pack does not suffer from memory effect, common to NiCd batteries.
Fits camera and lighting units with V-Mount battery bracket.
The built-in LED battery gauge provides you with a clear visual confirmation of the battery's capacity.
The built-in D-tap connector allows you to power accessories directly from the battery, protecting your camera's electronics from potential damage due to power hungry accessories.
The battery incorporates electronic protection from over-charging, over-discharging, over-current-draw, external short-circuits, and non-equilibrium between its power cells.
The battery will operate in temperature extremes that are uncomfortable for most people. Please note that as a general rule, battery capacity decreases as the temperature gets colder. Check your owner's manual for instructions on charging cold or hot batteries.
An attached rubber cover protects the D-tap connector when not in use.

question

Does this charger work with the larger Dracast 95Wh Lithium-ion Battery too? I understand the 95wh battery is self-charging but less power outlets taken up and less clutter on set may be better sometimes. Thanks.
Asked by: Geoffrey
Just to clarify, is it ok to charge the 95wh battery and the 90wh battery through this charger at the same time? Some chargers don't like that.

question

Besides the build in Charge Protection System and larger size, is there any other differences between this battery and the BA-90SC? Is the BA-90SC prone to have memory issues that this $50 up-charge for the DR-90S will take care of?
Asked by: Mitch
The only difference in those two batteries is the size. There should not be any memory issues with either battery. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at [email protected]

question

Can you fly with these batteries without them being over the security limit?
Asked by: william
If you plan on flying with these batteries, the BEST way would be to have them connected to either a charger or a light. When the batteries are not connected, the fear is that the terminals will arc onto each other, start a fire, and kill everyone on board the airplane. If the battery is connected to something (charger or light), then that cannot happen, and so they can be packed into luggage. I would recommend letting the airline know that you are flying with these batteries, but they are connected, so there is nothing to worry about. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at [email protected]

question

Does this battery work with Aladdin Flexi light 1 X1 mat
Asked by: Anonymous
If that light has a V-mount battery connection, then this should work. But because I do not know if that light has any other requirements for power other than a generic V-mount battery, I cannot guarantee if it will work. It might be better to contact Aladdin and find out what batteries are compatible with their light. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at [email protected]

question

Does the dracast battery work with a red one
Asked by: Rob T.
If the red one has a V-mount where you can put a battery, then yes, it will work. If the red one does NOT have a V-mount where you can put a battery, then this MIGHT not work. However, if there is an optional power connection on the red one, and if it matches the connector barrel on our D-Tap cable, then you MIGHT be able to use this battery with the red one. (whatever you mean by red one ). // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at [email protected]

question

I asked this question once before, unfortunately my words appear to be edited. Can these batteries be considered as 'high output' as required for certain lights? What is their amperage?
Asked by: Marshall
I believe that all Lithium-Ion batteries are considered high output. However, what other manufacturers mean when they say that their equipment needs a high output battery may be different. I can not speak for what others mean when they use this phrase, but my understanding is that the very nature of Lithium-Ion is such that they can be considered high output. - - - - - - - - - - - - Regarding the amperage question, if you divide the Watt-hours (Wh) by the Voltage (V) of the battery, it will give you the Amp-hours (Ah). So, for our 90 Wh batteries, the Ah are just over sixthe actual number I got was 6.081081... - - - Now, this is not the actual amperage, just the amp-hours, but it is as close as I can get. I do not have any amperage ratings for any of our batteries. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at [email protected]
