The Celestron S10-60 Stereo Microscope and Digital Imager Kit from B&H includes a stereo microscope and a digital imager. The kit serves as a versatile tool for your explorations or professional research and allows not only witnessing discoveries with your eyes but also documenting them in exciting images and videos for your reports, papers, and presentations with the included digital imager.
The Celestron S10-60 Stereo Microscope offers a 45°-inclined Siedentopf head that provides an interpupillary distance adjustment of 2.25-3.25". With this range and eyepieces that have rubberized wing eyecups, you can change interpupillary distance to accommodate nearly every viewer and observe your slides in 3-D with improved viewing comfort. You have a choice of two objectives and two included pairs of wide field eyepieces, 10x and 20x, which deliver a magnification range from 10x to 60x and enable you to study of samples like insects, plants, stamps, minerals, documents, coins, or electronic devices. When they designed the illumination system, Celestron did not cut corners and provided a top and a bottom bright halogen illumination. The two included translucent and opaque wide round base plates are interchangeable and offer two brightness options from the bottom lamp. The base also has two spring-loaded clips for securely clamping down your slides or samples. To add stability and precision to opto-mechanics, the body and mechanical stage are made of metal. Also included with the microscope are four insect slides.
To empower you with the capability of recording digital videos or capturing digital images while you are making your observations, this kit also includes the Celestron Digital Microscope Imager with a 2MP CMOS sensor and a 10x optic. The imager can replaces one of the microscope's eyepieces via the included adapter. This microscope will still allow you to use one eyepiece for making observations, positioning, or just moving your sample while the imager captures digital data. The imager is compatible with microscope eyepiece tubes from 23 mm to 30 mm in diameter and attaches to your PC or Mac via an attached cable with a USB 2.0 connector. The imager comes with optional image capturing software, the Digital Microscope Suite 2.0 for Windows, but the sensor itself works equally well with both Windows XP and Mac OS 10.4.9 operating systems or later versions.
CELESTRON LABS S10-60 Stereo Microscope
Designed for students and hobbyists, Celestron Lab's S10-60 Stereo Microscope is a versatile instrument for making detailed 3D observations of a variety of subjects such as coins, minerals, insects, leaves, textiles and documents. Dual eyepieces preserve stereoscopic vision which renders images in three dimensions, as opposed to a flat field common in single-ocular microscopes. Stereo, or dissecting, microscopes traditionally have relatively low power and a large working distance for larger subjects. This instrument has a magnification range from 10x to 60x with a maximum working distance of 2.17". The head and nosepiece are attached to the microscopes' pillar and is easily adjustable to set the correct working distance to achieve the sharpest focus.
The stage is built into the base to provide a large and stable area for specimens. Dual light sources above and below the stage and interchangeable stage plates enable users to optimize the light, depending on their subjects. Use the upper light and opaque plate to improve contrast on specimens for better viewing, and the lower light with the translucent plate to illuminate a specimen from below.
Two 10x wide field eyepieces
Two 20x wide field eyepieces
Two objectives: 1x and 3x
Two-position rotating turret
10x and 30x magnification with 10x eyepieces
20x and 60x magnification with 20x eyepieces
Contoured eyecups block peripheral light
Upper tungsten bulb illumination
Lower halogen bulb illumination
Dual coarse focus knob, left and right sides
Siedentopf interpupillary adjustment accommodates a wide range of users
Right-eye dioptric adjustment
Adjustable working distance, 2.17" maximum
Stage is integrated into base with slide/specimen clips
Removable 3.7" diameter round stage plates for different viewing application
Translucent: Light passes through the plate and illuminates the specimen from below
Opaque: Optimal when using the top illuminator and helps to improve contrast on specimens for better viewing
Celestron Digital Microscope Imager
The Digital Microscope Imager from Celestron allows microscope users to view and capture images and video. Viewing any microscope's high-magnification images on a computer screen is comfortable for a single person and small groups.
The DMI replaces the microscope's eyepiece with the aid of a small coupling device. Once it is in position, connecting the USB cable allows images to be viewed on the computer's screen. The DMI is designed to work with most microscopes, and the package includes an image-capture software program.
Compatible with most microscopes
2 MP sensor, built-in USB 2.0 cable
Digital Imager replaces microscope's eyepiece
Enables viewing and capturing snapshot images/video with a computer
UVC plug and play driver - CD-ROM contains software for viewing and image capture. Compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7
The included software package is a Windows-only application. However, the device itself is compatible with MAC OS 10.4.9 and later/newer versions. To use the DMI with a MAC a 3rd party photo-capture software program is necessary.
