    Acer G257HU smidpx reviews

    G257HU smidpx 25" 16:9 IPS Monitor is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 60.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Display This is my first external screen to a laptop, and I went big right away. The 2560 pixel view was exactly what I expected, and the screen is very impressive with the bright, sharp picture. I use it partly for office work (Excel and such), and partly for semi-professional photo editing, and it has clearly added to my results. I haven't used any other screen in that resolution, so I cannot really compare, but it is great for sure, I would buy it again. Note that you *must* use the DisplayPort connection or you will not get the full resolution - HDMI or DVI does not enable it. And your computer must be able to handle it, of course; otherwise you are wasting your money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good screen, bad stand, reasonably priced. When I was considering purchasing this monitor I was a little concerned that other reviews had listed the stand as being wobbly and that the height was not adjustable. Sadly, those reviews were right. The stand is wobbly and the monitor doesn't support alternatives for mounting. The lack of height adjustment is very minor for me. The viewing angle on the monitor from both the top and sides is really good. The picture is sharp with good colors for the price point. The bezel is basically non-existent which I really like. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase and would recommend it as a budget friendly option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool monitor, nice display with tilt adjustment I use it in my office with my macbook pro and I am very happy with the monitor. Setting up the monitor was easy and it has tilt adjustment. The WQHD resolution is fantastic. I had a few issues with the adapter for my macbook. A regular DVI to mini displayport does NOT provide the expected resolution because it is limited to 1080p (HD) by design. A dual dvi to miniport does provide WQHD but is ridiculously expensive. So I looked around and finally discovered that displayport to mini port adapter does provide WQHD. Of course, this is not a part of the monitor but the macbook users may bump into this issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monitors! Ordered 3 of these and they arrived fast. Plugged all 3 in and they worked like a charm instantly. I haven't had any issues with these at all. The stand is inconvenient but I wouldn't say it's bad. Would be nice for some adjustments though. For those complaining about vesa mounts, I agree 100%. But there are adapters available that can be used to mount this. I'll be doing that ASAP. 0 dead pixels and 3 monitors for under $850 is a steal! I'm using all 3 on a surface pro 3 with the docking station. Loving the setup! Only drawback is 1 monitor must be 1080p as the pro 3 cannot drive 3 2k monitors together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and efficient I bought this as a replacement for an aging 21 NEC. The most important criteria for me were: 1. WQHD resolution 2. Ability to drive this via the HDMI port 3. Inexpensive This monitor delivered on all three counts. I've taken away one star because the mount is not-adjustable and the monitor doesn't have a standard VESA mount interface - meaning I wouldn't be able to use a different mount without resorting to adapters or other specific hardware. Color reproduction is pretty good and the monitor works well for browsing, watching media and playing games. Simply couldn't ask for more at this time and this price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Entry-Level 1440p Display I decided to pick up this monitor after months of online shopping for a decent, value-oriented 1440p monitor from a reputable brand. I had read a lot of reviews about the Korean 1440p monitors, and it seemed like too much of a risk as to whether or not you'd get a decent model (not to mention I read that the return process could be a nightmare). This monitor stood out to me because it was 25 (27 would be too large for my desk, which has another monitor on it), it was an IPS panel, it had a 4ms GTG response time, and it was made by Acer - the brand who made my other monitor, so I trust them for decent quality at a good value. Even though this monitor is 25, which seems like an odd size for a 1440p monitor, I can say that I truly appreciate the pixel density of this display. The thin bezel is also a nice touch. The stand and lack of VESA mounting options aren't exactly selling points for this model, but these small issues turned out not to bother me too much in the end. I primarily use it for gaming, and it must be said that I am not a hardcore FPS gamer (this monitor is only 60hz, but can easily be overclocked to 70hz+). However, for what it is, it is a great display at a great price. I now prefer this resolution over 1080p and suspect it would be hard to transition back. I must also mention that the first unit I received had to be returned and exchanged for another brand new unit, as the original monitor that was delivered seemed to have a defect where it would not stay powered on. B&H responded very quickly and got me a new monitor a short time later - I cannot appreciate their customer service enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great monitor Great value and performance for this monitor, it shipped at a decent speed and wasn't damaged in any way, but I do have one complaint. The display port cable that came with it was broken, it would flicker in and out. Scared me so much that I thought I was going to have to return the monitor, until I plugged my hdmi cable in and it worked fine. I'll recommend this monitor to anyone who wants 1440p and is fine without 120fps, but I'd appreciate it if they included better cables next time!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from You're using it wrong After six months or so, this monitor began to cut out intermittently. I found that power cycling it brought it back to life for awhile, but the episodes are becoming more frequent to the point that I can't work effectively. I contacted Acer support, and they told me to use HDMI instead of Display Port. I bought this monitor specifically for the Display Port capability, because that's how I can get the max resolution from my 2012 MacBook Pro. My only option is to mail itto Texas for repair. When I bought it, I intended to actually use it, not mail it to Texas. I like dealing with companies who will swap a defective product by mail--you know, send you a replacement, you put the defective unit in the box and give it back to the mailman. That way you minimize downtime. This Acer product is maximizing my downtime, so this is my last Acer product.
