Blending a retro design with modern day Super 16 sensor, the Digital Bolex D16 C Mount Cinema Camera with Built-In 512GB SSD stays true to its namesake incorporating a C-Mount lens port that accepts a wide variety of optional C-Mount lenses, both vintage and modern. The camera's sensor features a global shutter, which prevents the jello-cam effect on fast moving subjects or when panning. The color sensor delivers 12 stops of dynamic range. The camera features three resolution options, 2048 x 1152 in Super16 mode, 2048 x 1080 in Super16 European mode, and 1920 x 1080 in 16mm mode, recording to Cinema DNG files with 12-bit color depth.

You can shoot at 23.98, true 24, and 25 fps, which allows you to shoot sync sound frame rates for broadcast, cinema and European productions. The camera will output 1920 x 1080 via its HDMI output for high quality monitoring, as well as 640 x 480 video via the 1/8" video output jack. Audio is captured via dual 3-pin XLR connectors with phantom power for powering microphones from the camera when needed. The camera records to an internal 512GB enterprise-class SSD or to CF cards via dual CF card slots. A non-removable internal battery can power the camera for approximately 3 to 4 hours, and you can power the camera from an optional external 12-volt battery using the included 4-pin XLR power cable.

Ergonomic Design
The design of the D16 allows various hand holding positions and grips. The camera includes a removable pistol style grip with a built-in start / stop trigger that mounts to the bottom of the camera.
Built-In LCD Screen
As with many digital cameras, the D16 features a built-in LCD screen. The camera's LCD screen can be found on the camera's top between the accessory shoe mount and the menu navigation buttons. The LCD screen features a 320 x 240 resolution, but you can activate the 1:1 mode for precise focus checking.
Assignable Cranks
On the side of the camera body, you will find two user assignable cranks. Each crank can perform a number of programmable functions. You can assign the crank settings you want to adjust on the fly, like ISO, shutter angle, or headphone volume.
Lens Mount
This D16 features a C-mount camera lens port. This allows you to choose from a vast array of vintage glass, as well as modern C-mount lenses. Lenses are not included with the camera. Optional replacement PL or MFT mounts are available.
Built-In SSD and Battery
The camera incorporates both a built-in 512GB enterprise-class SSD and built-in internal battery. This is done to keep the camera's weight down, while providing a secure environment limiting the potential for failure during use. The built-in battery can run the camera for up to 4 hours on a single charge.
Media Card Slots
Two built-in media card slots accept optional CF cards. The write speed of the CF card you use will determine the amount of time the camera requires after a shot to transfer the data from the internal buffer to your CF cards. Digital Bolex recommends cards with a minimum write speed of 400x.
Video Out
The camera shoots and records 12-bit RAW files at 4:4:4. Although there are both an HDMI and a composite video output useable for monitoring, Digital Bolex does not recommend recording these outputs as they are non-standard owing to the high bit and color depth and may not record well.
Transferring Footage
You can transfer the files from the camera's internal SSD to CF cards, or you can connect the camera to a computer and transfer files directly over the USB connection.
