The ultra-compact Sennheiser AVX-ME2 SET provides professional videographers, video journalists, and vloggers with a dependable wireless microphone system that's so easy to use, it's like having a dedicated sound engineer on set handling audio tasks.

Made with simplicity in mind, but without compromising audio quality, this self-configuring digital system handles time-consuming frequency setup and mic-level adjustments for you, so you're ready to shoot within seconds. Now, you can focus on the other critical elements vying for your attention during a shoot, and confidently record crisp, clear audio on your camcorder, DSLR, or mirrorless camera.

In addition to a bodypack transmitter and camera-mount receiver, this set comes with a black ME 2-II omnidirectional lavalier mic, ideal for projects ranging from wedding and corporate videos to documentaries and hands-free interviews.

It Goes Where You Go

  • The lightweight AVX system is easy to carry with you when every ounce counts. The roadworthy bodypack transmitter features a rugged metal chassis with a form factor even smaller than the ew G4. Its locking connector ensures that your lav doesn’t detach at a critical moment, while a convenient switch allows you to mute your mic. The display shows battery life and signal strength.
  • The discreet receiver plugs directly into the XLR input of your camcorder and rotates 320° to get out of the way of lights or other accessories you may have mounted on your camera. An AF button on the receiver allows you to adjust the output level to your camera, if necessary. In addition, the receiver comes with a shoe mount and 3.5mm output cable, making it a great fit for DSLR and mirrorless shooters.

Setup Made Simple

Automatically Finds a Clean Channel

  • The digital AVX automatically finds the cleanest frequency in the 1.9 GHz band as soon as you power up the receiver.

Fast Pairing

  • A long press of the Pair button on both receiver and transmitter links the two devices. Once the indicator LED turns green, you’re good to go.
(Note that the AVX is a peer-to-peer system, meaning the transmitter can only be paired with one receiver.)

Clear and Natural Speech

  • The ever-popular ME 2-II omnidirectional lavalier microphone delivers a natural sound optimized for speech intelligibility. Its omnidirectional polar pattern ensures that the sound remains consistent, even when the speaker's head moves away from the mic.
  • The AVX's automatic mic-level control takes full advantage of the system's wide dynamic range to deliver consistent speech without clipping and distortion, even when your talent goes from a whisper to a shout.
  • The system delivers 24-bit/48 kHz audio with an extended 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, for pristine, nuanced recordings.

Protected Wireless Transmission

  • The AVX operates in the license-free 1.9 GHz band—away from TV and Wi-Fi interference—to create a wireless peer-to-peer connection, for clean audio without dropouts at a range up to 98’.
  • The system automatically finds the cleanest frequency, free from RF interference.
  • If interference is detected, the AVX automatically increases the power on the transmitter—up to 250 mW—to overcome the problem.
  • If the increase in power isn’t sufficient, the system substitutes a clear frequency well before the audio signal itself is affected, for clean, worry-free sound.

Smart Power Management

  • The AVX transmitter and receiver both feature removable, lithium-ion batteries that are recharged via the USB port.
  • The transmitter gives you up to 15 hours of battery life, while the receiver is limited to 4 hours.
  • The receiver turns itself on and off when it senses phantom power from your camcorder, extending battery life in the field.
  • The transmitter and receiver can also be powered through their USB ports, allowing them to run for numerous hours on a USB power pack or indefinitely, if you have access to AC.
  • The included BA 30 battery for the transmitter and BA 20 for the receiver are also available separately, so you can have fully charged spare batteries ready in the field.

Other Features

  • Up to eight AVX systems can operate simultaneously in the same area
  • AES 256-bit encryption for secure communication
  • Made in Germany

If I connect the receiver to a mixer with phantom power of 48V (like the Rode RODECaster Pro), will it damage the receiver?
Asked by: Jim
The AVX are designed to turn automatically on and off, once phantom power is detected or lost. This won't damage the receiver. However, please note that the AVX do have a 19ms delay in them due to the 1.9 ghz band they transmitter in. This is not noticeable for recorded video and just audio, but do not use these for any live performances or broadcasts.

It seems this microphone system is too loud for the GH5. Even at the lowest volume in the settings of the GH5 and lowest AF on the AVX, it reach 0dB with someone who speaks a little bit too loud. Am I missing something?
Asked by: David
To get the best audio levels from this system, first set the sensitivity on the transmitter to an appropriate gain level, where the person speaking is not over modulated Then set the AF level on the receiver, which will decide the audio level coming out to you camera. AVX systems send out a MIC level signal, so it should not be too hot of a level for your GH5.

What is the size of the XLR connection on the ...

What is the size of the XLR connection on the receiver? Will it work with the Zoom H6 with 1/4" XLR connections?
Asked by: Brian
It's a standard 3-pin male XLR connector. I looked the Zoom H6 up on B&H's site to confirm the input connectors are what they sound like based on your question, and confirmed they are hybrid connectors that accept male XLR connectors or 1/4" (I assume (T)ip(R)ing(S)hield) connectors. The only possible drawback is the receiver is integrated with the XLR connector, and if an application doesn't have room for the receiver to be that close to the connector, you may have to use an XLR cord between the two. This is NOT the case with the H6, though. There would be no conflict between the receiver and the H6. Also, the receiver's XLR connector rotates, so the receiver can be positioned out of the way of the other H6 input connector as well. Really like the Sennheiser AVX set. We've had it for 2.5 years. Works great. Had to replace the transmitter battery pack once due to the user breaking the charger port in it. Also bought a "battery sled" (Sennheiser B30, holds two AA batts, powers the transmitter in place of the BA30 battery pack) for emergency power in case user forgets to charge battery - or it malfunctions), and a short USB-C to USB adapter cable to power (or charge) the receiver from our camera battery (has a USB power port on it), also in case of receiver battery failure or user failure to recharge it. Hope this helps!

question

Could a client use this audio equipment for their webinars?
Asked by: Kelsey H.
It would be really useful if you give say blackboard talks and you record or broadcast the video. In a pro setting, TV anchors would use it. If you have someone who turns their head a lot, say takes audience questions from all sides, you may want a face mic instead of this lapel mic, but that's more visible overall.

Newbie question... I see that this system uses a 24 bit resolution. If I used the AVX system with the Zoom F6, with this allow for 32 bit float recording?
Asked by: Matthew
I used it with a Zoom F6, which has precisely the XLR inputs which match the AVS receiver. You need to choose one of the 4 inputs carefully, and you will have no hum.

question

hi, Can you connect the receiver to an audio mixer with phanton 48 vol?
Asked by: Alfredo A.
The receiver is OK with phantom power, but will not use it to recharge. It will use it to turn itself on/off with the camera or mixer.

Can the receiver be powered/charged via a Dtap source? (DC 11.9-17v, Unregulated). With a Dtap to Microusb cable?
Asked by: Huay-Bing
A D-tap battery would have too much voltage and would damage the AVX receiver. I would recommend using an external power bank, such as the mophie 22,000mAh powerstation AC Portable Battery Pack (Black), BH #MO4167.
