From the field to the stars, the Meade Instruments 15x70 Astro Binocular offers the high magnification and light gathering ability necessary to see small game far away or to discern craters on the moon. Utilizing a BAK4 Porro prism optical path provides a rich high-contrast depth of view, while the large fully multi-coated optics and objectives draw in a copious amount of light to produce bright and clear images. Whether you're bird watching or observing a meteor shower, the Astro binocular has the power and ability to see it all.

Complementing the optical performance is a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy chassis with a rubber armored skin that offers protection against drops and impacts while providing a slip-resistant grip. A large knurled center focus wheel and right-eye dioptric correction allows for a crisp tack-sharp focus ability, while fold-down rubber eyecups allow the binocular to be comfortably used by most users with or without eye wear. Given the large objectives and 50 oz weight, hand-holding the Astro Binocular for prolonged periods may prove challenging; so some may want to use an optional tripod adapter to mount them for long observation periods. Tripod mounting greatly reduces shake and fatigue so you can concentrate on the views.

15x70 Astro Binocular is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality for Price Most of these binoculars are made in the same factory in China for different companies. The only differences are the cosmetics, the type and quality of the optical coatings that are spec'd, and how much quality control the company does before selling them to dealers or end users. With that being said, the Meade version performs quite well; at least the unit I received. The optics are fully multi coated and the quality shows on the lens. The images are clear and bright. The fit and finish is beautiful and the focus and diopter controls work smoothly. Concerning astronomical use, the stars are nice pinpoints of light, and the moon and bright stars show very little false color. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent. I made an order of 2 of these binoculars and 1 Celestron 20x80 Skymaster. Meade has a better image quality than the Celestron by far. I decided to stay with the celestron for its power and is water resistant. Do not hesitate to buy, it greats for Star Watching.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT FOR STAR-GAZING I received the binoculars about two weeks ago and have used it several times since for star-gazing. I like them! I see the stars very clearly and focused. The weight of the binoculars is a little more than I wanted, but the optical quality is there. It's a trade-off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lunar & terrestrial spotter Binos. Fully multi-coated Porro BAK4 prism! Bought these binos as a nice grab & go terrestrial spotter that has Astro-visual capabilities. Mounted them on a vintage ACE camera tripod from the 1960s. Can't beat the price for quality optics from Meade!
