Fast and wide, the XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR is a 24mm-equivalent wide-angle lens designed specifically for FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras. Two aspherical and two extra-low dispersion elements are featured in the optical design, and help to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations for improved sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy. Both a Nano-GI coating and HT-EBC coating are also used to control ghosting and flare for enhanced contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions. Complementing the optics is a floating focus system that benefits autofocus speed and also maintains consistent performance throughout the focusing range. Additionally, the lens body is also weather-sealed to support working in trying environmental conditions.

Wide-angle prime lens is designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 24mm equivalent focal length.
Notably fast f/1.4 maximum aperture affords increased control over depth of field and greatly benefits working in low-light conditions.
Two extra-low dispersion elements are used to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and color fidelity.
Two aspherical elements control distortion, curvature of field, and spherical aberrations, which helps to improve sharpness and realize more accurate rendering.
Nano-GI (Gradient Index) coating has been applied to lens elements and alters the refractive index between the glass and air in order to better suppress lens flare and ghosting for diagonal incident light.
HT-EBC coating has also been applied the entire surface of each element to reduce lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.
A quick and quiet autofocus motor pairs with a two-group floating focus system to achieve precise focus and consistent image quality throughout the focusing range, from the 5.9" minimum focusing distance to infinity.
Integrated depth of field scale benefits working with zone focusing and pre-focusing techniques.
Weather-resistant design includes nine different seals in eight areas to prevent dust and moisture from entering the lens and to enable worry-free use in inclement conditions and freezing temperatures as low as 14°F.

First of all, I bought XT-5 along with Sigma 18-50 recently after being a long time Canon full frame shooter. I really like to see how the Fuji lens perform. I picked this one after seeing YT and other sources. Now after two weeks, I have to say I love the build quality and outcomes, the F1.4 gives the best sharp/blur contract I ever had, closeness to the objects is big for me, the ring to switch the auto/manual and much more. The images is perfect both in sharpness and colors. Now I am happy that I have a much lighter gear to carry with to ever vacation.

I bought this for a low light solution to shooting city & landscape. Extremely well packaged and shipped in under 2 days. This lens balances out my XT3 very well. This lens is a keeper.

Great lens, but same old gripe!

The aperture ring detents are 'way too soft, and the ring slips out of the A position in a gentle breeze. I may be the ten thousandth person to complain about this easily fixed drawback to an otherwise stellar prime lens - so why doesn't Fuji catch on?

the best lenses in every way you use it. closeup, wide, general... Sharp(!), great bokeh, colors, rendition. fast, not too heavy... just great . a most have.

This lens is a great size to keep on the camera when traveling or just street shooting. I was surprised how well it did close up ( not macro but really good). Love the manual focus ring on it as well.

One lens you must never sell

This is the lens to keep for the rest of your life if you choose to keep one from the Fuji system. Two years ago, I sold this lens by mistake. Now I am regretting. This lens renders images beautifully and has a pleasing out-of-focus transition. I'm planning to order it once again with an XT-5.

Has anyone used the 16 mm with the LEE Seven5 Filter System? Any vignetting or reflection issues?

With the appropriate adapter, the LEE Filters 67mm Seven5 Adapter Ring B&H # LEARS567, there will be no vignetting issues. Reflection issues are systemic to all filters and every effort must be made to flag off specular light at the source.

Yes! The weather sealing is super nice to have as it can rain unpredictably in Alaska. The wide angle is great for capturing the broad vistas. One of my favorite things about this lens is the ability to focus very close which can create some very interesting shots. While this lens would be great for Alaska, it's really great anywhere. It's one of my favorite lenses.
