Redrock Micro 8-114-0011 overview

  • 1Description

With the microRemote Handheld Bundle you can control focus on your lens without taking your hand off your rig. This kit consists of the Basestation, a Digital Torque Motor, and a Fingerwheel controller. All required connection and power cables are available separately. When fully assembled, this kit provides immediate focus control without weighing down your handheld rig. The system can also be used in situations where direct contact with the lens is not possible, like when the camera is mounted on a motorized gimbal stabilizer.

The Basestation is the center of the microRemote system. It coordinates the Fingerwheel and calibrates the motors to the lenses. Power is also distributed through the Basestation. The Digital Torque Motor can drive photo or cinema lenses, while its small size keep it unobtrusive, and its light weight won't unbalance your rig. The motor will attach to 15mm rods and can be adjusted to fit the diameter of your lens. The included fingerwheel is designed to be mounted on a separately available microHandGrip and will be ideally positioned for index finger operation.

Works with virtually all cameras and lenses
Precision-movement fingerwheel
Can be alternately used to control zoom or iris (or multiple units can be combined to simultaneously control more than one lens setting)
Automatic lens calibration (with manual calibration option)
Powerful Redrock Torque motor works with cinema and still lenses

    Redrock Micro 8-114-0011 reviews

microRemote Handheld Bundle is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for Gimbal work!!!! Mine works great. I know another reviewer said they had trouble but with over a years usage and many over seas trips it's been great. It seems pricey but I have to have it. I feel because it is wired it's more solid that what seemed to be he only other option which was a remote controlled focus device that was significantly cheaper. In the end I'm glad i got this. It's one of those pieces of hear you just hate you have to spend the money on but I'm getting amazing shots I never would have otherwise. Paired with my ronin it's changed my shoots completely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great and reliable I love my microRemote. I've had mine for over a year and I have not had any issues with it. I do mostly concert and event shooting. It gives me freedom of running around and focusing instantly on any situation/scene. With the finger wheel attached to my microhandgrip my hands never leave the rig. This bundle was a great start for me. Since most of my shooting is run and gun I did not need wireless control. If you are a run and gun shooter this is a great tool. Its been very reliable. The auto calibration is my favorite feature. I can switch lenses and let the unit calibrate and I'm good to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this! The Ronin is next to impossible to use without some kind of focus system and since weight is an issue, I was looking for something lightweight. A friend told me about the Redrock and I'm glad he did. It freaking rocks. I read the review from the guy here who gave it 1 star so I was a little weary. I contacted RR to see what they had to say. They told me that they did a firmware upgrade that pretty much fixed everything as well as hardware upgrades from the original and that they had not had any issues at all- not one- since these updates (unless it was user error). It is not cheap so I wanted to make sure I was covered. My friend hasn't had any issues either so I was sold. I've used it on my ronin (with the special cables) and also used it on my shoulder rig. Love the fingerwheel. Makes everything so much easier. Only downside? I wanted to buy from BH but when I needed it, there was a lead time on here. I had to go direct. Sorry BH. I promise to make it up to you guys!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You Need this. Focus is the most important thing and this kit has to be factored into any gimbal as a combined purchased. Which is why i saved and went with the DJI Ronnin and not a Movi M5. Once added on, the additional weight becomes too much for the Movi M5 to bear. @ $2,600 with no case. The RONIN gives me so many options to keep for the long haul, wether i replace my canon 5d MIII or not. And as far as Movi stating that their freefly M15 systems has a full cage. I ended up going with another AMAZING red rock micro prodcut which is their Ultra cage for Gimbals and my shots looks STUNNING.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gear Very easy on the pocket and has been great so far, using it with Canon CN-E primes. Redrock Micro also has great customer service.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DON'T!!!! We have been through 3 Micro remotes, we are sending the third one in for repair. They go out even with the correct cables and the Lipo surge protector installed. We have had the motor go out we have had the base station go out and we have had the surge protector go out. The time to get it fixed is somewhere around a month. We have finally given up on it and spent real money o a Freely Wedge. $ bucks but it works great.
