This sounds dumb but I have heard that B&W printing uses some color inks in the mix. What inks should I keep in stock for B&W printing besides the obvious 4 blacks?
Asked by: Pamela
I would recommend to keep all 9 ink cartridges in stock. Just to be safe. Depending on the printer model, some printers will not print if a cartridge is empty.

I bought an Epson SureColor P800 printer in 2019 ...

I bought an Epson SureColor P800 printer in 2019 & never set it up. Am setting it up now. The ink cartridges are still in their vacuum packages, never opened. The expiration date was Dec 2021. So they're 5 months past. Do I risk clogging the heads if I use these expired cartridges? Should I toss them and buy a new full round of fresh cartridges?
Asked by: Nancy
Ink can change consistency over time meaning expired ink can cause the print head to get clogged. I would recommend using a fresh Epson T850 UltraChrome HD 9-Ink Cartridge Set.

question

Will this cartridge work in the Epson SureColor P600 printer?
Asked by: Larry
The Epson T850600 does not work with SureColor P600 printers, only the P800. For the P600 you would need the T760 cartridges. Vivid Light Magenta - B&H # EPT760UCMAG.

question

Approximately how many 8x10 prints can I get out of these ink cartridges?
Asked by: Daniel R.
There is no published spec on this and each print can use a different amount of ink colors. In general, it will use about 1.25 ml of ink per square foot. It uses nine individual ink tanks, each of which holds 80 ml. My estimate would be around 640 8x10's. Also Ink is Used during switching the black inks. Matte to Photo Black Approx 4.6mlPhoto to Matte Black Approx 1.6ml

question

How long can the inks last in storage? I want to buy a set of replacement inks but not sure if I should just wait until I need them.
Asked by: Matthew G.
the use by date is 2 years after the manufacture date. also, I have found that the pigment inks are good for much longer, say at least 3 or 4 years.
