    Smith-Victor RS10 reviews

RS10 Aluminum Light Stand (10') is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty? I have a pretty good collection of light stands. Some I use for attaching speedlights on location when I shoot weddings, and some are used for large studio lights. I recently bought some LED lights that I wanted to put on a decent heavy stand and use at wedding receptions. The description looked good, and I liked the price. When I received it, it looks as flimsy as some of my $25 chinese light stands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from backdrop stand Two of these were bought to be used with the Smith-Victor BPR Accessory Brackets for 3 Crossbars and three of the Smith-Victor Grande BPR 12.5' 4-Section Bars. This stand is FAR too lightweight and flimsy for this purpose. When extended even to 8' height, the risers bend under the weight of 3 muslin backdrops. The brackets and crossbars are fine but must be paired with sturdier stands, such as I have bought from B&H for lightstands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best value. In this price range these Tripods are the best made product. They are built well and will definitely last. I have used this tripod with a Monolight and 60inch x 40inch softbox weighing a total of around 10 pounds. The base is so wide that there was no need for a sand bag indoors. However if you plan on using a similar configuration out doors, you will need a sand bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Specs are incorrect At the time of writing this review, some of the specs listed here are incorrect, and so is the product image. The RS10 stand I received only has 3 sections, not 4, and the closed length is about 44 rather than 32. I'm not sure I would have bought this if I had known it was that long, as I was wanting something a bit more compact for taking on location. Apart from that, it is light weight and does seem like a reasonably sturdy stand for use with a speed light and soft box/45 umbrella. The footprint diameter is a good size at almost 4', and the central pole is thicker even than the Impact 13' Multiboom stand. Compared to my Impact stands, the Smith-Victor knobs are a larger size and the build quality of the whole tightening mechanisms both look and feel better. I also like that the rubber cap on the stud is a little bigger, so if I leave it on, any umbrella brackets I mount on it fit nice and snug.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product but stand that I received was not as advertised Had two RS10 stands that have served me well, so I ordered two more. However, the stands that I received, though 10', have three vertical tube sections, rather than the four pictured and described online. The new stands' minimum length is also about 10 longer than what's described online. They seem like sturdy stands so I'm keeping them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price I was amazed for the height this could reach, and still be fair enough stable. I use it with a Speedlight and works fine. I find it could be a little difficult to close the leg stands, but maybe it needs a little practice. Good thing is that is is very light, so it could be carried with no backaches.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm excited about this product so far... This is the best medium stand that I've found for the price. I'm using them to support 6lb. monolights with softboxes. So far I'm impressed, but I've only had them a short while and am interested to see how the section collars hold up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value Stand Not too much to say, except that the stand is exactly as described. Nice and sturdy with wide enough legs. I use it with Lowell Totalamps or smaller. Nice feature is that the legs spread wide enough that I can put a small sandbag across the bottom.
