Sky-Watcher 8" f/3.9 Quattro Imaging Newtonian Telescope (OTA Only)
Key Features
  • Open Box Products Have a Limited 2-Year Manufacturer Warranty
  • 8" / 205mm Aperture
  • 800mm Focal Length
  • f/3.9 Focal Ratio Optimized for Imaging
Sky-Watcher's 8" f/3.9 Quattro Imaging Newtonian Telescope is specifically engineered for astrophotography and astro-imaging performance. Its shortened 800mm focal length produces a fast f/3.9 focal ratio to reduce the exposure times required for capturing detailed images of the Moon, planets, and deep-sky objects. To further boost performance, borosilicate mirrors with a low coefficient of thermal expansion to reduce the effects of expansion/contraction when the temperature fluctuates. This helps limit distortion that can occur when moving the OTA from indoors to outdoors. The entire optical system is fully multicoated to increase the reflectivity of all surfaces to produce brighter and sharper images.

Sky-Watcher Quattro Overview

For imaging and visual use, the ability to achieve tack-sharp focus is critical, so Sky-Watcher outfitted the Quattro with a large 2" Crayford-style focuser. This design uses a steel rod held tightly against the focus tube under tension. Using this toothless friction system eliminates backlash and enables ultrafine precision focusing. A large coarse-focus wheel quickly brings subjects into rough focus, and the 10:1 fine-focus allows you to precisely focus it without the risk of losing it as soon as the knob is released. Having the ability to use larger 2" accessories and eyepieces provides an immersive experience during observation sessions and the ability to use larger sensors for capturing images.

The Quattro is offered here without a mount or tripod for users who have a solid observation platform. Its cradle ring assembly clamps over the OTA so you can position it for balancing when mounted and place the eyepiece precisely for more comfortable observations. It also allows adjustment of the entire rig so you can avoid interference with other equipment and accessories. A dovetail plate on the bottom of the cradle ring assembly makes this OTA compatible with any Vixen-style saddle.

Optical Performance
  • 8" / 205mm aperture
  • 800mm focal length
  • f/3.9 focal ratio
  • Optimized aperture-to-focal length (focal ratio) for enhanced astrophotography and imaging capabilities
  • Highly reflective borosilicate mirrors
  • Borosilicate mirrors have a low coefficients of thermal expansion to reduce the effects of expansion/contraction due to temperature fluctuations
  • Highly reflective fully multicoated optics
  • 8x50 straight-view finderscope
Focuser
  • Crayford-style design
  • Accepts 2" eyepieces and accessories
  • Two coarse focus wheels, one on each side of eyepiece holder
  • Fine smaller focus dial on right-side of eyepiece holder
  • Crayford focusers use a toothless friction system that allows for super-fine precision focusing without backlash
Mounting
  • Cradle ring assembly enables the position and orientation of the scope to be adjusted for balance, ease of viewing, and to limit obstruction by other equipment

Sky-Watcher Quattro Reviews

So far so good.

I only have this scope for a short time. I wan nervous about mounting it to an Sky-Watcher HEQ5 Pro mount because of its weight, but so far so good. I am a little disappointed on the amount of Coma that I get. Therefore, a Coma Corrector will be in my next purchase. The scope came in very badly collimated. The secondary mirror was way off, but with a help of a friend we corrected that. I strongly recommend a Bahtinov mask to properly focus the scope. I am including my first attempt at the Lagoon Nebula with this scope and a Nikon D3500 DSLR.

Excellent scope and great deal

Have had it out once since receiving, and, so far, am very happy with the scope. B&H Photo was also great in communicating tracking and ETA information. Highly Recommended for your astrophotography and/or astronomy desires.

What adapters would I need to use to fit my MFT camera on this?
Asked by: Liam
To mount any interchangeable lens camera including a MFT model to the Sky-Watcher 8" f/3.9 Quattro Imaging Newtonian Telescope, you’ll need a camera adapter B&H # CETA1.25 plus a second adapter specific to your camera’s lens mount. For MFT you’ll need: B&H # VELAMFTT

question

Does it come with a tripod (stand) or where can one be gotten?
Asked by: Anonymous
So it does not come with a Tripod unfortunately. However you can buy one for the model. The BRESSER Exos-2GT Computerized German Equatorial Mount with Tripod would be a great choice.Website link: http://bhpho.to/2bN3Fx3
