Wooden Camera 199900 Reviews

Hmmmm. I really like Wooden Camera equipment but...

I used these on an extended doc shoot and they were problematic at best. The fold over rubber band style design isn't sturdy enough for most mics, including the MKH 8060. It was an endless battle pushing the mic back into the holder. Quickly removing the holder was also problematic since the screw is placed directly below the joint. I've successfully used this design style of mic mount but this one has weak bands that will need to be reinforced. Even with added bands the mic still slides forward. Have a look at the more rigid models from Rycote or K-Tek.

I tried knock-offs and cheap-os and ended up buying the good one from Wooden Camera for my camera rig and am only displeased in myself.

Sony FS7 Must Have Accessory

If you have and love the FS7 you need this shock mount along with two other items. I use a FS7 cheeseplate from Small Rig. That plate allows me to screw this Wooden Camera shock mount and an extension arm (also by Wooden) into the camera. It's rock solid! Yes the Wooden mount is made of heavy plastic. But it has HEAVY plastic and strong machine screws as well as a large torque producing handle. I had broken the original Sony mount. I had used and broken the Rode replacement (too delicate) and now I've found this. Buy it along with the extension arm and you can attach it directly to the camera or to a cheeseplate like me.

Well made, mounts securely in multiple positions on my Wooden camera cage keeps my microphone effectively isolated against camera jostles. Excellent product.

Works great! Have to use the included smaller screw but it falls out of the holder.

question

Will this mount onto a cold shoe adapter?
Asked by: Marcus
This mount is designed to work specifically with a Wooden Camera Universal Offset Bracket. It has a set screw built in to the bottom, so I would not suggest this model. A good shock mount for a cold shoe is the Auray DUSM-1 Universal Shock Mount for Camera Shoes and Boompoles, B&H # AUDUSM1.

question

Is it possible to mount this directly to the Wooden Camera C100 Top Plate without additional hardware?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Wooden Camera Microphone Shock Mount ships with a 1/4 screw in addition to the pictured 3/8 that will allow mounting to the Wooden Top Plate.

question

What size mic diameter is this for?
Asked by: Thomas S.
I use it on camera and on a boom with the Rode NTG 3, Sennheiser MKH-50 and sometimes a MKE-600 which all have slightly different diameters and shapes (the MKH-50) and it can easily take at least 50% wider and 50% thinner mics than these. It's a very stable and sturdy solution and the rubber bands don't come off as easily as they do on other offers I've tried.
