Porta Brace RIG-FS7XTOR overview

  • 1Description

The black RIG-FS7XTOR Camera Case with Off-Road Wheels from Porta Brace is a lightweight camera case with interior kit designed for the Sony FS7 camera with a viewfinder and lens attached. The extra-tall 13.5" interior height allows for a baseplate at the bottom of the camera, while accommodating the top handle and microphone shockmount. The rigid frame is virtually crush-proof, and the soft padded interior comes complete with accessory items including a camera tie-down cinch and camera cradle, to ensure that your gear is safe and secure during transport. Additional accessories include 4" and 7" padded lens cups to organize and protect extra lenses, a padded accessory pouch, a pouch for an 8 x 12" iPad or tablet, white balance card, and flashlight-carabiner.

The case is made from rugged 1000-denier Cordura, and features 1" thick padding surrounding a hollow-core plastic frame. The bottom is bolstered by a layer of waterproof anti-skid rubber. The main compartment is accessed via YKK zippers, and a secure hook-and-loop-fastener strip along the front flap helps prevent water and debris from entering the case. The case can be carried by two suede leather carry handles, or a comfortable suede-leather shoulder strap. It also comes with a retractable handle and off-road wheels that are removable, to prevent axle damage during air travel.

Porta Brace RIG-FS7XTOR reviews

RIG-FS7XTOR Camera Case with Off-Road Wheels for Sony PXW-FS7 (Black) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Keep your camera rig built with this bag! I bought this bag so I didn't have to break down my Sony FS7 rig when working locally and for company moves. Its rigid, portable and roomy enough to keep the EVF, boom mic, small zoom lens, top handle, base plate / rails and v-mount battery all in tact. You could probably fit a matte box with a small zoom as well. There's a movable velcro strap to keep the camera from moving around while being transported. There's also enough room for my SmallHD / Wooden Camera wireless director's monitor. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because for the price, I would have thought that better dividers came with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, not great For this price I expected better quality. The pullout handle seems a bit flimsy. I suspect it will bend/break in time. The wheels are a bit wimpy as well. The size is also a teeny bit small for my rig (base plate and wireless mix extension increase vertical space, plus Anton Bauer attachment adds length, both of which are a little too big for this case). The fabric part is well made and there are several options for placing all your gadgets. I would have liked more lens pouches and wish they had velcro right on the pouches instead of having to use their velcro belt. Also, it could stand to have a strap that can easily be grabbed when the case is upright. Right now the strap is oriented to be grabbed on its side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ultimate Sony FS7 Kennel Don't know where to put up your Sony while you are on vacation? Stop looking around, you have found the perfect solution to host your camera while you are away. This bag kicks other camera bags squarely in their genitals and does not bite. Be warned that to comfortably house a fully assembled Sony FS7, you need a lot of space. You won't be able to slide this under a bed while not in use, because it is too tall -- and if you fly with your service animal, you can't use it as carry on as it is too large. Awesome bag!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great time saver I use this case mainly for local work. It saves me 60 minutes from having to setup (30-40) and strike (20-30) my rig on site. The case is quite rigid and fairly light weight (considering its size). Will also work with other camera rigs. The shoulder strap is heavy duty and very comfortable, however, quiet difficult to carry the case fully laden with gear. This is the reason I bought this case over the version without wheels (rig-fs7xt). I do find it useful for carrying my sticks around too. The lens cups do the job, but leave much to be desired. They are flimsy with just enough padding to protect from light bumps. I would not use them on a belt system. The Cradle Cinch is constructed very well, however, is too short to fit around the camera with a Zacuto Next Gen Recoil Baseplate. This was a bit disappointing considering this case is intended to carry an Fs7 Rig. The white balance card, ipad pouch and stuff sack speak for themselves. The carabiner flashlight did not work, however, B&H was kind enough to send a replacement. I do travel by air several times a year, but have yet to travel with this case. I am a bit weary checking this bag in (without camera, of course) due to the price. I'm concerned how damaged it may come back. Overall, a good case and time saver.
