One of the most versatile focal lengths available, the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens from Canon is a compact, normal-length prime well-suited to everyday shooting. The bright f/1.8 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field for isolating subject matter. Individual elements feature a Super Spectra coating to help minimize flare and ghosting to realize greater contrast and color accuracy when working in backlit and harsh conditions. Additionally, an STM stepping AF motor is used to realize quick and near-silent autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Reviews
I wish I hadn't waited so long.
I've held on to a 1.4 for years, have stubbornly attempted to have it repaired for a few years a time or two and it has never been a lens I could truly depend on. It was just too erratic and soft. I shoot a ton of theatre and I need a fast 50mm lens. I had pretty much given up on it and finally, for some reason I figured why not roll the dice on that cheap little nifty fifty. So I finally got it and yeah, all the hype is real. It's a fantastic, dependable fast lens. I recently shot a show, super dark with very saturated colors and follow spots. It's definitely a go to lens for me now. It's a hell of a bargain. I strongly recommend it.
Great All-Around Lens
If you are looking for a fast aperture without spending a fortune, this is a great lens to meet everyday needs. Much more flexibility than the kit lenses. Certainly worth the investment. B&H was great to work through as always.
Not quite a wide, not quite a telephoto
The lens is gorgeous, allows for super shallow depth of field, is super portable, and a great value for money. For me it falls in a bit of a no man's land as far as focal length goes. In my day to day I need something wider, and without a zoom it doesn't quite work as a true telephoto. But in specific scenarios where you can get a bit of distance between you and your subject, it works fantastically.
Fast shipping! Great lens and needed in every camera bag.
Love [email protected]!!!
I use it all the time! It's great for any kind of photography session! Gives me great bokeh and sharp pictures.
Simple, sharp and effective........................................................
Exactly what I wanted
I love my nifty fifty! It has performed quite well for me so far - sharp photos, great bokeh, perfect for long exposures.
A Great Lens!
A gave this lens a try for taking sunrise photos at the beach. Wow! I was really shocked by the excellent results! I'm using it on a Canon 5D Mark IV, with a Chiaro Pro UV filter (49mm) and a Canon ES-68 lens hood.
