Will this work on Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II?

NO, The correct lens hood for the older EF 50mm 1.8 II is the Canon ES-62 which must be used with the 62L adapter. The ES-68 hood will ONLY fit the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM. It has a bayonet mount and will not fit any other lens. The older EF 50mm 1.8 II has no bayonet mount for a hood. You should use the 62L adapter which screws on to the 52mm filter threads and then mount the ES-62 hood. You could also use any generic 52mm screw on hood.

No it does not - you'll need the Canon ES-71 II Lens Hood for the 50mm f/1.4.
