Cerevo USA CDP-LW01A overview

  • 1Description

Combining a switcher, mixer, and streaming encoder, the Cerevo CDP-LW01A LiveWedge HDMI Switcher features 4 HDMI inputs, a program and preview output, and is compatible with HD/NTSC/PAL/computer signals. The unit features an integrated jog wheel and control buttons that provide on-unit control and a built-in LCD menu interface screen. However, the unit is most flexibly controlled by using the free downloadable app for your iPad that provides a visual interface.

Incorporating 9 effects channels, the switcher supports cut, mix, wipe transitions, fade to black, DIP, PNP, and chroma keying. The switcher features separate preview and program HDMI outputs supporting NTSC, PAL, and HD video. You can input jpegs with resolution up to 1280 x 720 from an SD card; larger resolutions will be automatically resized to 1280 x 720. The switcher can simultaneously output video over HDMI and stream to a variety of streaming services via its Ethernet connector.

Control via App
The app is a free download for your Apple iPad and allows you to monitor and control the 4 HDMI inputs, allowing you to switch between live, input, and output. It displays the current operation, current settings and network connectivity. From top left to bottom left the items displayed are network connectivity, frame rate, network speed and live streaming time.

The app also allows you to assign a maximum of 9 effects. Cut, mix, and fade to black are assigned to the right side of the effect channel and cannot be changed.

    Cerevo USA CDP-LW01A reviews

CDP-LW01A LiveWedge HDMI Switcher is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Out of the Box It WORKS! The Cerevo Livewedge is great. It worked first thing. My only trouble was realizing that the iPad needed to see the WiFi address of the Wedge before completing the set up. The instructions were somewhat hard for a non electronic geek to comprehend, but not that bad and I had it working a few minutes after setting it up. I have my first video up on You Tube already. It does a great job of recording to the SD card and because the edits are live the time in post is very much shortened. The only draw back is that it will not support live streaming on Google. I hope that future updates will allow this - hint - hint.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing features. But not without weaknesses. I am a professional event video producer. The mission is to shoot and switch between cameras and Powerpoint graphics coming in on VGA converted to HDMI. This switcher has some amazing features. On its first 3 day assignment it recorded flawlessly to its internal SD card recorder. It also will stream live. It can be controlled with an Ipad app though I did not use this feature the first time out. The glaring weakness is that the four input selector buttons are of very poor build quality. They will NOT go the distance, period. This needs to be re-engineered to replace those cheap button switches. Otherwise, I have no complaints about this amazing box. The unit display screen could be upgraded but overall it's intuitive and easy to operate. This is an exceptional device, with an amazing array of features for the money. If they upgrade those cheap buttons, I'll give it an A plus.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product for the money. Works well but... As other reviewers have commented the buttons on the unit occasionally stick, but I've not found that to be a major problem in its operation. I used the Android app with the LiveWedge and it works well. I had one lockup after about an hour of heavy experimentation when I was try to change the PIP image size. After a restart of the app only it worked again. I wish it was possible to program an option from the app to allow PIP operation from the unit instead of requiring the app. It would be nice if you could have one programmable option on the unit that could be selected instead of the EDIT option and move the EDIT option down to the little row of icons where it could be selected.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The app crashes every few minutes I just purchased the cerevo livewedge the unit is very nice, the main control for the unit is the Ipad. The app crashes every few minutes and it takes a while for it to reconnect, the unit doesn't need the Ipad for it to work but for my purpose I depend on the Ipad because I need unit for my church. I need the chroma key function to overlay on the main screen. I will have to return the unit if I can't get in touch with the manufacture for a workaround of this problem.
