Back-Bone Gear BBRC2001 Overview

  • 1Description

The Ribcage HERO4 Modification Kit from Back-Bone Gear replaces the lens and front of your GoPro HERO4 camera with an aluminum plate and removable lens mount rings that allow you to use M12, CS-Mount, or C-Mount lenses, as well as other types of lenses with optional C-mount adapters. This lets you take advantage of all the benefits that professional lenses have to offer, including manual focus control and iris control, optical zoom, and macro shooting. Please be advised that this modification kit requires you to completely take apart and re-assemble your camera, which will void the manufacturer's warranty.

Included in the Modification Kit is a removable tripod mount adapter so you can use your camera with professional mounts and supports. Additionally, you use GoPro's optional The Frame mount to use the camera with GoPro-style mounting accessories. Also included in the kit are IR cut filters, which can be removed so you can see in the dark when shooting with any optional IR light source. For added convenience, all of the lens mounting rings are removable for easy filter replacement and sensor cleaning. Additionally, you can even combine up to two custom 15mm filters simultaneously, such as the IR cut filter and an optional ND filter. By integrating a filter holder into the lens mount, you'll only need filters for the camera, not all of your individual lenses.

Gentlemen! I would like to know: can I install this modification kit on camera Hero 4 Black or should I contact the workshop for maintenance of GoPro cameras? How to calculate the approximate focal length needed lens for M12 mount (which is the crop)? Thank you! Yuri
    Asked by: Anonymous
I recommend this only for people confident of their do it your self skills. Other wise I suggest you have a professional technician do it. Regarding the focal length the sensor is approximately 1/2.5 . For a normal perspective focal length use a 7mm to 8mm lens.
