Olympus E-M5 Mark II Overview

Now available in a titanium version, this Limited Edition run of the OM-D E-M5 Mark II Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera from Olympus stands out by bundling a matching leather shoulder strap and a serialized owner's card, which also has its own dedicated leather case. This model still shares the excellent performance and feature set first brought out with the original by combining a 16MP Live MOS sensor with a TruePic VII Image Processor for increased performance speed and reduced noise throughout the ISO range as compared to TruePic VI. The Mark II also improves upon its predecessor by utilizing a 5-axis VCM Image Stabilization that provides up to 5 stops of compensation. Built into the E-M5 Mark II is a unique feature that utilizes sensor shift to produce a 40MP image by combining 8 images in-camera.

The camera's fully articulated 3" touchscreen LCD monitor makes taking self portraits easy, and the built-in WiFi lets you quickly share your images. When not using the LDC monitor for live view, the 2,360k-dot EVF provides a virtually lag-free view with a 1.48x magnification.

Superior Image Quality
The Olympus E-M5 Mark II uses a 16-megapixel High-Speed Live MOS Sensor offering improved performance and exceptional clarity and speed in all aspects of image capture. Olympus' TruePic VII image-processing engine improves image quality in low-light environments. The camera's sensor allows for a maximum ISO of 25,600, and the dynamic range has been expanded for more faithful color reproduction.
5-Axis Image Stabilization
The ultra-sensitive 5-axis VCM (voice coil motor) employs updated gyro sensors for a full 5 exposure steps of compensation. The E-M5 Mark II delivers sharp, clear still images in low light or steady HD video when capturing movies.
Intuitively Designed Electronic Viewfinder
The camera's electronic viewfinder has an eye sensor to seamlessly switch the display between the tilting 3.0" touch screen OLED and the electronic viewfinder for ease-of-use. Camera setting information, such as shutter speed, is displayed at the bottom of the viewfinder so photographers can concentrate on framing shots and take full advantage of an EVF's ability to display the effects of various exposure adjustments and Art Filter effects - all without having to take the eye away from the viewfinder
Additional Features
Interactive, high-resolution and high-magnification electronic viewfinder. 3" touch-screen LCD monitor, with variable angle positioning. Built-in Wi-Fi for instant connectivity. Live Composite, which automatically blends multiple exposures for incredibly detailed night scenes, and compatibility with Olympus Capture camera control software, which creates a seamless interface between camera and computer for studio work.
Weather Resistance
The magnesium alloy body is sealed to help protect against dust and liquid. The camera can operate in cold-weather conditions down to 14°F.

Are you able to change the shutter speed to angle ...

Are you able to change the shutter speed to angle for a full 180 degree shutter? If not, are you able to set the shutter speed to 1/48?
Asked by: Norman
Since this is not a film movie camera and is a digital still camera that can do video, no, there is no shutter angle setting nor is there a 1/48th of a second shutter speed.

question

I have the E-M5 Mark I. It requires you to set the custom white balance using a white sheet of paper, unlike other cameras I have which read a very small rectangle such as from a pocket WhiBal card. Does the Mark II still require the white sheet of paper?
Asked by: John
I have both 5 and 5 MK 11 bodies. One touch white balance still says fill the frame.

question

Is it compatible with the older Zuiko digital 4/3 lenses from a E-500 series?
Asked by: Michael M.
I do not have an answer for that specifics, but I brought a SLR Magic 8 mm f/4 4/3 lens, and it does not work an the Olympus due to protuding lens distance in to the camera body.I will make an adapter from a set of camera/lens caps to mimick the original Lens configuration .

question

How good this camera is at video autofocus? Can you VLOG with it or shoot some minor travel videos?
Asked by: Eimantas R.
My E-M5 Mark II seems poor to fair for video autofocus. If you read the reviews and watch video reviews on youtube you will see criticism of this. The autofocus performance is limited by the lack of phase detect autofocus which offers better performance.

question

I like to shoot in P mode and sometimes go into Ps mode. The manual says to get out of Ps mode to hit either the up or down arrow on the back controller but, I have both of those arrows assigned to two different functions and it does not work anymore to turn Ps off.. Anybody know how to do that without turning the camera off??
Asked by: chris
If you use program shift and have mapped the arrows to do other things, you have to use the adjustment dials to take the Apeture back to where program thinks it should be, then the s will go away

question

What does this camera have that is better than the E-M10 MKIII?
Asked by: Jay L.
Simplist answer I can give you is the weather sealing, which the updated E-M10 MKIII does not have & the high res shooting mode where it stitches a 40 MP image. I looked at both models & very happy with my E-M5 MK II. Happy with my choice cause I shoot in harsh cold conditions so I never worry with the E-M5 MK II.
