The Lens Turbo Adapter V2 for Full-Frame Minolta MD-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount APS-C Camera from Mitakon Zhongyi allows a full-frame Minolta MD-mount lens to be mounted onto a Sony E-mount camera. While doing so, the adapter approximates the lens's angle of view as if it were placed directly on a camera with a full-frame sensor while providing a 1-stop increase over the lens's aperture range.

If a lens intended for 35mm film or similarly-sized "full frame" camera sensors is connected to a camera with an APS-C sized sensor, it would project an image larger than the smaller sensor was built to accept. Able to capture only the center portion of the projected image, the effective angle of view of the lens would be narrowed, creating an in-camera "crop factor". The Lens Turbo Adapter V2 for Full-Frame Minolta MD-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount APS-C Camera condenses the light from a lens designed for 35mm film or "full frame" camera sensors and projects it onto the APS-C sensor. This allows the APS-C sensor to utilize more of the light gathered by the lens, which effectively eliminates the crop factor while making available to the sensor an additional 1 stop of light for each of the lens's f/stop settings.

This adapter is constructed from aluminum and plastic for durability while minimizing weight and its mounting rings are made of stainless steel to further prevent wear-and-tear. Inside are four lens elements, one of which is an extra-low dispersion element that helps to reduce chromatic aberrations.

When using the Lens Turbo Adapter V2 for Full-Frame Minolta MD-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount APS-C Camera, a lens placed on it is kept securely attached via a push-button, side-locking knob. This adapter does not support electronic communication between an attached camera and lens. Minolta MD-mount lenses that have their aperture settings widened or narrowed using their aperture control rings can then have those settings used with this adapter and a Sony E-mount APS-C camera set to manual mode.

While the Lens Turbo Adapter V2 for Full-Frame Minolta MD-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount APS-C Camera is intended for Sony E-mount cameras with APS-C sized sensors, it may also be placed on "full frame" Sony E-mount cameras as well. However, such cameras must be set to "crop mode" when combined with this adapter to avoid generating images with vignetting.

This adaptor may not fit all Minolta MD-mount lenses due to the degree with which rear optics may extend past the lens mount. Lenses with rear optics that extend more than 3mm past the lens mount are not recommended for use with the Lens Turbo Adapter V2 for Full-Frame Minolta MD-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount APS-C Camera, and Blackmagic cinema cameras are incompatible as well.

  • Allows a full-frame frame Minolta MD-mount lens to be used with a Sony E-mount APS-C camera
  • Combination of adapter and full-frame frame Minolta MD-mount lens provides approximately the same angle of view with a Sony E-mount APS-C camera as if lens were placed on a full-frame sensor camera
  • Provides a 1-stop increase for the camera over the lens's aperture range
  • Aluminum and plastic components for durability and weight reduction
  • Stainless steel mounting rings further prevent wear-and-tear
  • Side-locking knob for secure attachment of lens

Lens Turbo Adapter V2 for Full-Frame Minolta MD-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount APS-C Camera is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I am still testing but the few 20 or so test pictures are excellent. This focal reducer works great on my A6000. I waited over 4 weeks since it was a special order and it was worth the wait. Please read the instructions on mounting it to your camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for money - highly recommended - bokeh improver! What a positive surprise! In my (non-scientific) tests the Adapter has many positive and even unexpected effects. Some subjective findings: + Most welcome to restore the original field of view of shorter lenses up to 58mm. Wasn't able to test with lenses shorter than 28mm due to lack of lens on hand + Negative effect on sharpness or contrast seems minimal, unnoticed in many cases. Due to shorter subject distance and the picture compression the relative sharpness might even increase, depending on lens quality + Bokeh CA and high contrast CA seems to be unchanged or even improved when using the LT2 which is a big surprise - some if it might be related to compressing the CAs too? + Bokeh quality noticibly improves for a given subject size: shorter subject distance results in higher foreground/background distance ratio and therefore blurrier bokeh plus the compression factor seems to reduce bokeh CA and maybe introduces some extra unsharpness also in the bokeh plane - VERY welcome, positive and unexpected effect on bokeh quality overall!!! + Extra light gain is great 0 LT2 picture compression maybe not that relevant or very useful for longer lenses (85mm and above) except for possible light gain and maybe bokeh improvement - The breech-lock of the adapter to mount itself to the camera is technically unavoidable but clumsy. Not an issue when the adapter stays on and only the MD lenses are swapped but swapping with a native E-mount lens is slower than usual - Most Regular E-Mount lens caps will touch the camera side lens of the LT2 - mark the original lens cap to become your LT2 lens cap or create your own special cap by drill-through a standard cap and then close the whole again with tape - Some production tolerances / slightly shorter width of my LT2 than needed: Infinity is reached earlier / distance marks will show shorter distance than reality. Not a huge issue normally, except for: - Most important: The rear lens element of some MD-lenses may be in danger to collide with the front lens of the LT2 !!! Set your lens away from infinity before mounting the first time then slowly turn to infinity and see if infinity is blocked by lens collision! My MC-Rokkor 1.8/35 lens elements collide when nearing infinity!!! High risk of damage when you mount this lens in infity setting! All others I own like 2.8/28, 3.5/50 Macro, 2.0/85 or 1.2/58 are worry-free. My LT2 adapter allows focusing post infinity with most lenses which normally is not such a bad design/production setting to ensure infinity focus in any case but with the MD-Rokkor 1.8/35 tolerances seem to allow collision of the lens elements. I will try to fix this by adding shingles on the LT2 mount side as my piece seems a bit too much on the post infitiy side... Overall: a great piece with mostly positive impact on picture quality and greatly improving the bokeh in real-life situations! Love it! Just verify your lenses for full compatibility first!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid performer I bought this adapter mainly to use MD mount wide angle lenses on my Sony a6000. Using the 28mm f2.8 rokkor you get an almost unnoticeable image quality degradation and a little purple fringing wide open but stopped down one to two stops the image is perfect. I will try to get a 24mm lens and report again. Overall a good buy.
