Portrait-length 85mm prime is compatible with full-frame Sony E mount mirrorless digital cameras, and can also be used with APS-C-sized sensors where it will provide a 127.5mm equivalent focal length.
Fast f/1.2 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also enables extensive control over your focus position to benefit the use of selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.
Two extra-low dispersion elements and four high refractive index elements help to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions throughout the aperture range for greater sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy.
Manual focus design utilizes a floating elements system to permit focusing on subjects as close as 3.3' away.
De-clicked, stepless aperture ring permits smooth, silent aperture adjustment to benefit video applications.
An 11-blade rounded diaphragm contributes a pleasing out-of-focus quality when working with selective focus techniques.
All-metal lens barrel features printed depth of field and focus scales. Additionally, a metal lens mount also offers increased durability between the lens and camera.

Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 85mm f/1.2 Reviews

Do not… Underestimate this lens. Manualnfocus, no electronic

I purchased this lens, then I sent it back waiting for the Fuji 80 millimeter 1.7. But then I reviewed the images I took when I owned this lens from Mitakon Zhongyi and they were incredible. F1.2...unbeatable light. I’m going to be honest, I re-bought the lens and I have not taken it off the camera since… That’s not a lie.

Fast lens, but not made for GF.

The Good ~ Fast (obviously) ~ Sharp ~ Great separation, even at range ~ Sturdy ~ Has great character for portraits. ~ Great Contrast / colors The Bad ~ Flares and blooms like crazy ~ A bit of distortion and vignetting in the corners ~ A bit pricey for manual focus only. About the lens: First let me start by saying, this is obviously an adapted Full-frame lens, and it feels similar to full-frame lenses I've adapted before. It does vignette, and even has a bit of distortion in the corners, especially wide open. Is that a bad thing? I mean, the vignette can be corrected in post, and the lens definitely has what we like to call character. Overall Opinion: I'm not sure if I love it or hate it yet, so I'll have to run more tests. I think for the price-tag (I got it on sale for 700) it's a tad high for a manual focus only lens. I'm fine with manual focusing, but I can get great results out of my vintage lenses which I picked up for 20-40 bucks a pop (some of which I think resolve better on the sensor, but don't have close to the speed/Sharpness this does) I loved the Mitakon 35mm for my X-t3, and this one is great as well. But I'd wait for a sale. If you are planning on shooting outdoors, or into any lights at all you'd better buy yourself a cheap screw-on lens hood, cause the sun will blow out your shot! (All attached images shot at 1.2 to show DoF except the portrait, which was closer to 5.6. The leaves shot shows how prone to flaring it is) ~Spencer

A lens with character

This lens is far from producing the wow-factor of the Fujinon lineup. There's a bit of vignetting, and it's not crazy sharp, but it's got its own character and is super fun to go out and shoot with! Depends on what you are looking for in a final image.

Doesn't have electrical contacts as shown in product photos.

Perhaps it was just a mistake on the website but the photos clearly show electrical contacts on the lens mount. The lens I received does not. Half the reason I bought it was because of this feature.

Worst lens I've ever used

Even in 1080p, this lens is unusably soft. It also has terrible chromatic aberration. I've tossed out almost every shot taken with it. Worst lens purchase I've ever made.

Beautiful manual lens!

I Have only had it for a few weeks so far, well made, does exactly what it's built for...if you are a 'Real' photographer and know exactly what you are doing, being that it is a Manual focus lens too, you'll Love it!... 👍

A painterly lens

This is a very nice lens that can easily compete with all the household brand names. It is sharp when it needs to be, and has a great character. Although I wished it has a bit more micro-contrast, at the price point there is no arguing. It loses a star for two reasons. Declicked aperture makes it impossible to change the setting without breaking the flow and looking at the lens, and it also is easy to accidentally bump it. The second issue I have is on principal - this is a rehoused 35mm lens. It’s the same lens they have for 35mm cameras with a G mount. The vignette is pleasant but noticeable. While the results do not bother me, it could be a vital flaw for some, and as such, this should be disclosed. But it is one of my favorite lenses now, thorns and all.

The top caption says 85mm, the features says 67mm, is it both or neither? And what would be the correct 35mm equivalent?
Asked by: Peter
Hi, this 85mm lens will provide the same angle of view for the medium-format camera it's designed for as 67mm lens on a full-frame or 35mm camera. The actual focal length of the lens never changes--it's always 85mm.

Focus peaking would be determined by the camera. If the camera does support that feature, you will be able to use it with the lens.

question

If I use this on an A7Rii and use Metabones Adapter Ultra ii 0.71x, is it still going to be fullframe? Do I need to crop it?
Asked by: `
The lens and camera are both full-frame, but the Metabones 0.71x adapter does make the lens perform 29% wider than normal, so it would actually be a 60mm equivalent.
